A short thread about cancel culture 🧵

When figuring out whether something was cancel culture or not, it's pointless to just stare at the end result. What's more important, is whether the consequences were proportional to the crime, and HOW those consequences came to be. For example, Harvey Weinstein wasn't subjected to cancel culture even though his whole life and legacy were flushed down the toilet. His crimes were real and serious and he really deserved the consequences he got.

A short thread🧵

When people say "trans women are women", I don't think most of them actually believe it. Some of them say it because they are afraid to not say it. Others say it because they love making others afraid of not saying it. In a way, the whole statement "TWAW" sort of functions as a tool for social control. It's almost like a religious sacrament; a pledge of allegiance and submisson. When you say it, you prove you are willing to abandon the truth to either achieve or keep your in-group status.

A thread:

What is wokeness? It is the self-perceived awareness of issues that concern social and/or racial justice, combined with a feeling of moral superiority. The term "woke" is now used as a pejorative like "MAGA" is used as a pejorative, for very similar reasons.

In the core of wokeness is the identity of being aware of things other people are not aware of. While others are still asleep, woke people are awake. This is the key. It's not about "just being a decent human being", because being a decent human being is not enough.
