NEW STUDY 🚨

If CAC is zero, higher LDL doesn’t seem to substantially increase risk from cardiac events

This needs to be retweeted 1,000 times so every common cardiologists can begin to “understand this phenomenon”

ja.ma/3BgZMf3 Image
Who would have thought the idea of actually measuring disease with CIMT/CAC/CCTA would produce better results than believing blowhards who profit off of surrogate marker testing ( like LDL )
Interestingly of those who had a zero CAC, those with a higher LDL were more likely to have positive CCTA Image
A few thoughts stand out hoping for commentary from @MaBMortensen @khurramn1 @Lipoprotein @ethanjweiss
@AngryCardio

0 CAC seems to normalize risk regardless of LDL

BUT!

LDL>190 had HUGE positive CCTA when CAC was zero

1) Was it stat sig?

2) is that possibly true FH?

🚨 THREAD 🚨

Discussing how science and regulatory process has been hijacked …

People often asked me, “Doc, can you give us example of the regulatory system being messed up…”

1/
These questions are often hard to answer without a long story, but this morning’s email from the AMA makes it easy.

Backstory: Two section heads from the FDA resigned because the administration put political pressure to approve the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents.

2/
The administration disbanded the VRBPAC, which is the advisory committee where doctors discuss the data and make a recommendation for or against approval.

It’s hard to empathize

Imagine your tire is flat, & every mechanic & tow tells you to fill more air in your tire than you let out… then imagine your family, friends, society & mechanics have blamed you for your flat tire your whole life & you are so desperate you believe them
Imagine you have tried to fix it on your own, but the market is saturated with bogus “fix-a-flat” products barely work & are designed to fail… they that make lofty promises & provide allure with momentary success but no clear longterm solution…
Imagine the deepest despair, the most predatory industry and lack of insight and clarity into your tire problem…

Now you might understand why people don’t want to know and don’t want to get weighed

Yesterday, I had to come face to face with several COVID patients (yes I had an n95 & limited my contact as much as possible)
I admitted one patient with COVID… an older gentleman who had natural immunity from recovered COVID from a year prior, he had come in with mild viral symptoms… he was much less symptomatic compared to his 1st infection…
but now he was more short of breath. His D-dimer was high and he was COVID+, his CTA of the lungs showed bilateral pulmonary embolism…

This is the, it’s nothing new pandemic

🚨 Thread on LDL & low carb🚨

How I approached high LDL in my patients, and how we observed a decrease in LDL of 480mg/dl

About the case-series of 5 patients…

(1/20)
As data supporting low carb diets has proliferated for weight loss, diabetes, seizures and other conditions, patients are now presenting with various issues related to the diet

2/20
For example, while it’s true that consistently a1c, triglycerides, HDL and lpa seem to improve, some patients report some adverse events.

What I wish I knew as a 350lb doctor?

❌eat all food in moderation
✅Fuck that, eat satiating real food with no limit and then if hungry eat more 🥩🍖🍗🥚🍳🥦🫑🥑🍓🍤

❌eat 5-7 small meals
✅Fuck that, if you aren’t hungry don’t eat & when you are hungry eat real food

/thread
❌breakfast is the most important meal
✅I haven’t eating breakfast in 7 years & I’ve kept 150lbs off

❌eat whole grains
✅this is just a way to get you to eat Kellogg’s & General Mills processed shit food… if they are advertising “fiber” or “whole grains” you are being conned
❌if you want chocolate or ice cream just have a little
✅either don’t have it OR if you need it find a version without sugar, plenty of low carb alternatives out there, takes some of the addictive qualities of the food out (yes and calories)
