Black tech twitter seems to value appearances over substance, clout over career and imagery over impact

From what I’ve observed rarely do they talk about their work or the work itself, just the money attached to it

Folks lean into URM status so much they forget to talk about more than their identity

These are my thoughts generally over the years from those who always tweet about being part of #blacktechtwitter

I can speak for pre seed, people are investing in thought process of opportunity in the market and background of CEO/founder and you can’t replicate someone’s background in a pitch

So someone can give you tips on your deck or general pitch, but background counts for a lot and you can’t replicate that in a 5 min pitch

VC cant be the new management consulting because VC does not have that many spaces for folks

Startups are not the new grad programs because grad programs are more than biz, and people only really care if you worked at hyper growth startups
