Concerning reports of racial profiling of Baloch and Pashtun students in University of Gujrat in Punjab has worried the parents. TBP has spoken to various students and their parents, who have confirmed the alarming practice.
Since the beginning of this week, civilian clothed officials have been interrogating only the Baloch and Pashtun students in the varsity. Mobile phones of these students are inspected and their online activities including Facebook and Whatsapp chats have been checked.
The Pashtun students have been questioned about PTM, whereas, Baloch students are asked about their views and information regarding BLA.
A Baloch student told TBP that he was asked if he has ever used any weapons, or has killed anyone and if any of their relatives have ever been killed by security forces.
The students have complained with the Vice Chancellor of the University, who has maintained that his hands are tied as the “orders have come from above”.
