🧵 My initial Texas vote-by-mail ballot application was initially rejected because I missed the “political party” section. It’s no wonder. Look at the ballot I finally got. It’s just massive amounts of tiny print. And threats. /1
Outside of envelope with threats they couldn’t fit into the inside of the envelope. /2
Back of ballot envelope. More threats to anyone who helps a voter fill this out. Grab a magnifying glass to make sure you don’t break a law. /3
Another envelope INSIDE the ballot envelope with unreadable instructions and threats of crimes if you mess up while helping someone fill it out. You actually have to put your ballot in THIS envelope, THEN put it in the OTHER envelope to mail it back. /4
Not to mention that as a voting Democrat in a blood-red district, this whole process almost never ends well. Nevertheless I vote every damn time to spit in the face of #VoterSuppression. /end
Added reminder: Texas GOP leadership eagerly added new crimes to voting because “voter fraud” in 2020, and gave in to TFG’s demand for an election audit even though he won here. But was there reallly much frauding? Eh…..no.
3 great ways to channel outrage about voter suppression in TX👇
🌟Become a volunteer voter registrar. Nothing feels better than getting a bunch of 18-23 year olds on the rolls
🌟Remind folks to vote when it’s time. Bring a crowd.
🌟Know your ballot vote411.org/texas
