Last week House clerks enrolled the wrong version of Postal Service Reform Bill
They immediately corrected it
Schumer filed cloture on the incorrect version
Seems now Fla Sen Rick Scott plans to object to a unanimous consent to replace this with the correct version
⤵️
So it looks like Postal Service Reform won't pass til at least March now
From Schumer's office:
"As it has been reported, the House of Representatives made a minor clerical error when it sent the bipartisan Postal Service Reform bill to the Senate.
⤵️
"House Republicans worked with House Democrats to pass a technical correction by Unanimous Consent on Friday. Now, Senator Rick Scott is threatening to block the same fix by Unanimous Consent on Monday in the Senate.
⤵️
"It is time for Senate Republicans practice what they preach and rein in reckless Rick Scott’s political games so we can pass bipartisan legislation.” //

National Archives has asked DOJ to investigate Trump's handling of WH docs
"including those that might be considered classified"
Discussions are still in preliminary stage:

2/"[NARA] has asked the [DOJ] to examine Trump’s handling of White House records, sparking discussions among fed'l law enforcement officials about whether they should investigate the former president for a possible crime, according to two people familiar with the matter.
3/"The referral from the National Archives came amid recent revelations that officials recovered 15 boxes of materials from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence that weren’t handed back in to the government as they should have been, and that Trump

"These are the lowest of the low, these are the only people left in the Trump circle..Look at who didn't speak up yesterday.

"There were not people out on Fox all day defending this resolution or pushing back on Mike Pence, or defending the former president and his talk of pardons. Republicans are now silent. So if you're Donald Trump, that means you don't have a lot of support.

"You may intimidate people, but these are all people who really ultimately hope you go away. It's all closing in on him, and these desperate people who he still has around him themselves may be in need of, hoping for, pardons or power from Donald Trump

2/"When [NARA] handed over a trove of documents to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, some of the Trump White House records had been ripped up and then taped back together, according to three people familiar with the records.
3/"Trump was known inside the White House for his unusual and potentially unlawful habit of tearing presidential records into shreds and tossing them on the floor —
Growing chatter that -at McConnell's behest- a bipart gp of Senators will propose Electoral Count Act (ECA) reform
Giving Manchin cover
& avoiding filibuster reform & passage of actual voting rights
ECA is *very* narrow
It won't fix what GOP are doing in states
Not good
⤵️
ECA is a relatively arcane 19th Century law that governs how Electoral College votes are tabulated & certified
-which is what Trump tried to get Pence to corrupt on 1/6
Has *nothing* to do with state level issues at the core of voter suppression & a lot more that vrl covers
⤵️
Make no mistake:
Manchin said yesterday he is only in favor of making minor filibuster change
And he wants 2/3 (GOP) agreement to make the change
He's obfuscating again
This ECA thing is McConnell throwing Manchin a bone
And it's very, VERY dangerous
