1/ Remember a riddle from Game Of Thrones?

"In a room sit three great men, a king, a priest, and a rich man with his gold. Between them stands a sellsword, a little man of common birth and no great mind. Each of the great ones bids him slay the other two."

2/ Who lives and who dies, and can we learn anything from it that can be useful in our current situation? Let’s see. If the sellsword happens to be a devout man, he obeys the priest and kills the king and rich man. If the sellsword happens to think money is more important, he ..

3/ listens to the rich man and kills the king and priest. And finally, if the sellsword believes that it is his duty to obey the king, he kills the priest and rich man. Point? It doesn’t matter how powerful the king, the priest, or rich man consider themselves to be.

4/ The real power lies with the one whose claim sellsword believes. It’s up to the sellsword at this point to make a call about who should be killed and who should be spared. Sellsword here is ultimately a representation of the people.

5/ So it really is up to the people to decide who they believe in. No authority can hope to sustain power if the people don’t believe in them. The ultimate trick of power comes down to how powerful you are in the opinion of others. Power is nothing more but an illusion, a trick.

6/ If enough people believe that power resides in a person, then it does. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Look at fates of fallen dictators and tyrannical regimes. One day they ruled and owned everything, the next day lost everything and became a memory, a thing of the past.

7/ Power resides where men believe it resides. We all play and are part of this game of power, but on a much larger and more complex scale. Can freedom be part of this equation? Perhaps he would choose to free himself from the subservience, servitude, and doing the bidding of ..

8/ all of those people. In the above example, it would mean the sellsword killing the king, the priest, and the rich man if they tried to stop him, as he doesn’t believe in the power that these men represent, but he believes in the power of freedom.

9/ But for him to understand this, he first would need to realize that he is a servant, working under and doing the bidding of others. He would also need to understand the meaning of freedom and decide if he truly wants to pursue it.
