Woke up this morning to go shepherding in the South Hebron Hills. I was drinking coffee when we got the call that Israeli demolition forces had been spotted in the area. We dropped our original plan and are now tracking the demolition forces. Stay tuned for updates
The Israeli Civil Admin forces have arrived now in the settlement of Maon. Eid Suleiman, a Palestinian activist from Umm Al Khair, says that the Israeli Border Police, the military, and ICA will gather and make a plan before destroying any buildings
Demo forces have left Maon. We have 2 cars of Jewish + Palestinian activists. 1 car, led by @btselem staffer Nassar, is watching the highway. My car, w/ @CJNVtweets activists, is going other direction towards the village of Umm al Faghara, the site of a pogrom a couple months ago
In Umm al Faghara
The Israeli demo convo has passed Umm al Faghara, passed Khalat alDaba, and is now likely headed for al Fakhit
The army blocked the road, so, like we planned, one activist stayed with the car while the rest of us continued on foot. It’s going to be a long trek…
Someone following the demo convoy has been rolling large stones into the road, probably to obstruct the army et al on the way back. #Resistance
They demolished the Palestinian home before I arrived. Luckily, other activists were present and documented the war crime
I spoke with two staffers of the Israeli Civil Administration and told them that I’m an American Jew who is here to protect the rights of Palestinians.
As the bulldozer finished its job, the ICA staffers asked me in Hebrew why I don’t also protect the rights of Jews. I told them that I do. And I added that destroying Palestinian homes is bad for the Jews and puts a shared future for Palestinians + Israelis further out of reach.
We are now back in the jeep on the highway following the demolition convoy to another site. They have an electrician car with them, which Eid said means that they’re planning to destroy a bigger house. The electrician will cut off the power of the house before they start wrecking
They stopped by Ar-rifa’iyya.

After speaking with the soldiers and running up and down the hills for an hour, I’m feeling quite agitated so I elected to stay in the car and do comms while the rest of the group documents
The home slated for demolition sits in a valley surrounded by olive groves + Palestinian homes. People are gathering on their balconies to watch the Israeli forces raze this structure.

What do these Palestinian observers infer about Israel’s intentions w/ them? I wonder…
It’s only 11:30am, but I feel like I’ve been awake for a whole day
The yellow Hyundai demolition rig has nearly finished razing the house. A moment ago, the Border Police threw stun grenades, creating a blast that echoed around the valley, and they arrested the homeowner. He and his family were trying to get closer to the house…
55 minutes since we arrived for the 2nd demolition of the day. The Israeli forces, including the big rig + Border Police, worked slowly + methodically. It’s not as dramatic as a terrorist blowing up a house w/ a bomb, but Israel nonetheless removed another home from the landscape
