As threats to democracy grow more alarming and urgent, I am leading a Congressional delegation to Israel, Germany and the United Kingdom to focus on advancing security and stability, economic prosperity and democratic governance around the world.
Our first stop will be in Israel, recognizing our shared democratic values and mutual security. We will meet with the leadership of Israel and leaders in the civic community to discuss the prospects for a two-state solution and regional security.
At the Munich Security Conference, our delegation will reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the transatlantic partnership, especially in the face of worldwide challenges to democracy and the rise of autocratic threats.
In London, our delegation will deepen our interparliamentary dialogue on how we can continue to work together to counter antidemocratic forces and advance our shared values and interests in the global arena.

Today, the House took a bold step forward in protecting the fundamental rights of the global LGBTQ community. The bipartisan #GlobalRespectAct will ensure America offers no safe haven to those who violate the human rights of our LGBTQ family, friends & neighbors around the world.
Tragically, thousands of LGBTQ individuals are subjected to attack, harassment, arrest and murder every year, suffering under state-sanctioned discrimination and a surge of violence. Those responsible all too often act with impunity, never facing consequences for their crimes.
The #GlobalRespectAct will help counter that injustice, barring offenders from entering the United States, gathering new data on anti-LGBTQ human rights violations and holding perpetrators accountable, including through additional sanctions.
Today’s jobs report makes resoundingly clear that, with nearly half a million new jobs created last month and 6.6 million new jobs created in the last year, the economic recovery powered by @POTUS' leadership and @HouseDemocrats' economic plan continues to be historic.
Now, @HouseDemocrats are prepared to build on this extraordinary economic momentum: continuing our work to lower families’ costs, strengthen our supply chains, and make more goods in America with the House passage of the #AmericaCOMPETES Act.
Today, the House will pass our #AmericaCOMPETES Act which will bring the manufacturing of critical goods, including semiconductor chips, back to our shores – while restoring American leadership in research and innovation and promoting American values on the world stage.
This month and every #BlackHistoryMonth, America celebrates the resilient leadership, determined advocacy and unrelenting courage that the Black community has brought to our history and democracy.
As we remember with open eyes the injustices of the past, we also recognize the inequities of the present — from the scourges of systemic racism and police violence to the plights of economic inequality and health disparity, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
Today our nation proudly sees Black representation at the highest levels of our government, from a record number of Black Members legislating in the Congress to @VP leading in the Administration to @POTUS’s decision to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court.
Today, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders across our country and communities around the globe mark the beginning of the Lunar New Year: a beautiful time of celebration, reflection and renewed optimism for the future.
Home to one of the largest & most diverse AAPI communities in the country, San Francisco has long been proof that the beauty is in the mix. Yet, in our City & across the country, our AAPI family, friends & neighbors have experienced a surge of violence over the last two years.
@HouseDemocrats have led the charge to enact @RepGraceMeng's COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which has helped to combat anti-AAPI violence while empowering communities, raising awareness & creating a position at the Department of Justice to expedite the review of COVID-19 hate crimes.
When Justice Stephen Breyer departs from the bench, the Supreme Court and the Country will lose a leader of honor and integrity, a defender of liberty, justice and the Constitution, and a guardian of our fundamental rights.
Justice Breyer has championed liberty not merely as freedom from oppression, but as freedom to participate in our democracy – paving the way for great progress in our nation. Justice Breyer has helped ensure that our democracy does, as our Founders intended, work For The People.
For his legal brilliance, his unwavering integrity and his firm devotion to safeguarding our democracy, Justice Breyer will leave a remarkable legacy. We thank the Breyer family for sharing him with the Country.
Today’s GDP numbers show that America had the fastest economic growth in nearly four decades, powered by @HouseDemocrats’ American Rescue Plan and @POTUS Biden’s leadership.
Last year was also the single greatest year of job growth in American history – creating 6.4 million jobs. Americans are finding new jobs at a record pace, starting new small businesses, sending their children safely back to school and so much more.
We must build on this strong economic momentum by creating jobs, lowering costs and untangling supply chains. @HouseDemocrats unveiled our #AmericaCOMPETES Act: bold, results-oriented legislation that will strengthen American leadership and competitiveness at home and abroad.
