The American Firearms Association is so intent on blocking the Violence Against Women Act from being reauthorized (really?) that it is blasting out emails ripping Republican senators who support it -- *after* the bill's gun safety provision was stripped out.

Here's the intro to their email, which fails to mention the major concession that Dems made to get Republicans to support this bill at all -- stripping out a provision that would have closed the so-called "boyfriend loophole."

It lists the names of the Republicans who signed onto the new VAWA bill introduced last week and casts them as having "locked arms" with Dianne Feinstein.

Not only does this make no sense, but there are 10 Rs on this bill, not 11. Come on!

This is all about fundraising for the American Firearms Assn, but it's so full of misinformation.

The NRA dropped its opposition because the bill doesn't include the gun safety provision that became controversial.

The bill also is not coming to the floor any day now.

Since the AFA can't raise money off a bill that doesn't have a gun safety provision in it anymore, they are trying to fuel outrage over another provision that would ... require an incident report to be sent to local law enforcement when someone fails a gun background check.

A ha-- I see the VAWA bill *does* have 11 Republican cosponsors now. That's new.

Roy Blunt just signed on, per congress.gov.

So AFA either had the math right and the names wrong, or vice versa.
