Security is defined as “protection; measures taken to guard against espionage or sabotage, crime, attack, or escape.”
It is the ability to keep unauthorized people from accessing information. For example a lock to keep unauthorized people out of your home.
Privacy is “the quality or state of being apart from observation; secrecy.”
It is the ability to control information, referring to information about your identity, like your metadata. Fort example privacy can be thought of as your ability to control who has your house key.
