For now, we’ll be documenting objectionable speech through a Twitter account. However, we will soon launch a portal that will facilitate documenting all forms of objectionable speech made by public and political personalities as well as social media influencers.

The need for one such initiative was felt because of the rampant increase in hate speech and organised disinformation in the online as well as the offline world, and the failure of tech platforms to offload objectionable speech from their platforms.

UnHate is an attempt to seek accountability from all stakeholders who are directly or indirectly responsible for the increase in hate speech, which includes the individuals who are producing hate speech, tech platforms, advertisers, media organisations, and more.

Here's how a News channel shares a fake news based on a clipped video. It was later picked up and amplified by BJP members and Right wing Influencial accounts. Soon after it went viral, It was again picked up by other News channels which has it's own fact checking team. Thread 👇

Violent videos against Asaduddin Owaisi are not new. Mainstream news channels and anchors like Suresh Chavhanke of Sudarshan TV have described him as a demon, a traitor and “worse than a d0g”.

'Sachin Hindu' has been sharing inflammatory videos against Owaisi. In one recording shared on his Facebook page, Owaisi is shown as a traitor, with a knife placed near his throat with the demand that he leave for Pakistan.

Pinky went on to warn Owaisi, as long as the volunteers of Hindu Raksha Dal and warriors of Hindu Raksha Dal are working for Hindutva, they will sl'it your thπoat and glorify my name,” he said in the video.
