You are not "free" if you get one chance every four years to choose between two aspiring dictators. Voting is not a magic elixir that justifies every abuse of government power because ballots make it look like the ever-growing State enjoys the "consent of the governed."
Your vote means steadily less anyway, as more power is shifted to unelected, reform-proof bureaucrats, and the "consensus" of "experts" is invoked to force mandates upon you. The growth of the Leviathan State is like political hyperinflation that devalues our ballots.
The essential principle of Great Reset authoritarianism is that a growing list of subjects are beyond the understanding of the common man, so commoners should have nothing to say about them, and no ability to question or resist the decrees of the Experts.
There was an incredibly stupid editorial cartoon during the pandemic that portrayed people who resisted the decrees of Experts as passengers in an airplane who thought they could do a better job of flying it than the pilots. Think about the implications of that mindset.
So much for sovereign citizens, inalienable rights, the will of the people, the consent of the governed, and all that jazz. You're now passengers who should be barred from getting into the cockpit. You shouldn't even be talking about elite matters, let alone voting on them.
Our political elite increasingly views elections as a silly dog-and-pony show they must grudgingly endure every few years to satisfy the absolute bare minimum requirement of securing the "consent of the governed" to sanctify their hunger for power. Democracy is just a ritual.
This is reflected in the utter contempt shown by the elite for securing ballots and keeping elections honest. It's all just a joke to them. They want to make it easier to rig the outcome so they don't have to waste so much time pretending to care about the opinions of commoners.
Meaningful freedom cannot be defined entirely by "democracy." Voting cannot be the sole measure of liberty. Look at how easily authoritarian regimes pervert the trappings of democracy, christening dictators as "presidents" with sham "elections" where he wins 99% of the vote.
Freedom is measured by what you can do outside the control and surveillance of the State, how much of your life is free from political considerations, how much the law binds the State, how much capital you control, and above all else by how much you can REFUSE to do.
The two most reliable measurements of freedom are the dollar and the word "no." How much of that dollar you earned is yours to keep and spend as you will? How often do you get to say "no?" If you try to measure freedom solely with ballots, it will inevitably diminish. /end
