In this series, I share alpha I've learnt from @mrjasonchoi (and others) that I think is useful / relevant to you guys
Note: These are my personal interpretation and may not fully represent what they mean
Alpha 1:
Decision Making - Variance Consideration & Regret Minimisation
I was having trouble deciding on the best course of action for a relatively important decision IRL so I asked Jason sensei for his advice.
He shared with me the framework he would use if he were me
Much like trading, what is the potential risk to reward for the possible choices?
Of course, things might still not turn out exactly as you planned for but what we can do is to consider all possible scenarios and make the "BEST" possible decision, given all the facts on hand.
What exactly is the "BEST" decision then?
The best decisions in life are the ones that you wouldn't regret when you're on your deathbed. Over the long game of life, you should be optimising for minimal regret!
Alpha 2:
These guys are not only fucking smart, they're fucking hardworking too.
Many of these successful people work harder than you think. From witnessing Jason's 12 hr packed meeting day, @Darrenlautf's constant innovation to give back to the crypto-space, to..
@thedefiedge's daily long threads, I can say that they work harder than most of us and they truly deserve their success.
Many people think that crypto is easy or these people just got lucky - then why aren't you as successful as them?
Remember anon, lucky is the word lazy people use to describe people who work hard.
If you aren't as smart as them, are you at least out-working them?
Alpha 3:
The Successful Learns From Other Successful People
Jason often shares lessons that he learned from books or success stories e.g Jeff Bezo's regret minimisation framework, how Harry Stebbings broke into VC world and Roelof Botha's road to partner at Sequoia Capital
As successful as they are already, Warren Buffet still spends 80% of his day reading books and Bill Gates reads about 50 books per year!
Alpha -> Learn from books & successful people but also consider where you can do better than them.
Alpha 4:
Tips For Building Twitter Threads
.@thedefiedge is one of the fastest-growing Twitter accounts (50+k followers in a month!) and he was kind enough to share some tips with me after I dm-ed him.
Some of them are:
- Content is important, but delivery/structure is too. You can't educate someone if you lose their attention
- Sizable Twitter following before longer-form writing on Substack. Effort to produce high-quality article is not worth it if you have a small audience
- Don't reinvent the wheel (again, learn from others what worked for them). If it doesn't work for you, you might be the problem, not the method.
Disclaimer: These are my take on what they've shared. It may not be an accurate representation of what they actually mean + it's difficult to share the exact context otherwise the thread will be too long 😅
ENDING STATEMENT
I'm blessed to be able to learn from these guys and thought it is only right to share with y'all. Hope it is useful!
Feel free to let me know your thoughts as well. 🥰
