If you think Moses Dickson’s story is crazy, there is a lot I couldn’t include because it was tew much.

A thread:
For instance, around 1856, there seems to have been an increase in the number of uprisings by enslaved people. There are historians who wonder if this increase was just people reporting more uprising of if Dickson’s secret national network had a part in this.
Dickson was basically a traveling barber on a steamship which allowed him to see almost every part of the south & meet a bunch of board certified RNs (please don’t be in the comments explaining what that means). A Barbershop is basically every hood’s central intelligence agency
Then there’s the fact that Dickson was so proud of the fact that only three white men knew about the Knights and two were from England.

William Wilberforce, who ONE of the first HBCUs (trust me, you don’t wanna get in thr middle of that debate) is named after, sent him money.
And apparently, the Knights basically took over the funding & organization of the Underground Railroad for about a decade in parts of the country.

But they were really smuggling guns and people. Bruh was a whole international arms dealer
If you think that’s crazy to believe that British were arming slave revolts, some dudes named James Madison & Thomas Jefferson were OBSESSED with the idea.

So we’re slave owners
In 1812, we fought a whole war over it (I forget the name of that war). There’s a song about it. (Something about a banner and stars)

I’m convinced Dickson was successful for the same reason his story sounds so absurd:

They didn’t think Black people were smart enough to do it.
Another thing is, we rarely discuss the influence of Black fraternal organizations like the Prince Hall masons, Black fraternities and sororities.

The Knights of Tabor built a whole-ass hospital in one of the Blackest cities in America. They didn’t “help build it…” they did it.
Have you ever wondered why there are a lot of Black owned insurance agencies? Well the whole Black owned insurance business sprung, in part, out of mutual aid societies & fraternal orders, according to Booker T Washington.
One of the things that makes me laugh is when Dickson said his code name back in the day was “Blue Dick” and he repeatedly refers to the Knights as the “Child of Destiny”

I wonder if he knew Beyonce?
Another thing we don’t talk about is Black newspapers. If you want to know what Black people thought about anything in history, big or small, you can just read the Black newspaper of that time

Usually…

Every now & then, you’ll read:

“The __ Daily was destroyed by a white mob”
Bruh, it was a thing. White people used to get mad & attack inanimate objects!

On every HBCU there’s always a building that was “rebuilt after an 18xx fire.”

White mob.

Someone smarter than me need to do an analysis on how much Black history has been lost due to white mobs.
Anyway, when you search newspapers, you’ll find little mentions of the Knights of Tabor or the Knights of Twelve sprinkled throughout the country.

They really did some good things.

But their origin story goes back to one plan:

There's a long history of sending military officers into Black cities to stop "crime."

In fact, I'd argue that this is what caused the Democrat & GOP realignment

The story involves gangbangers, bowling, a stolen election & the civil rights era's bloodiest event

A thread:
First of all, when people say it's "unconstitutional" to use the military against civilians, they're not EXACTLY wrong.

It's ILLEGAL.

It began when violent gangbangers & anti-American thugs were causing problems in Democrat-run cities and whining about voter suppression Image
After the Civil War, the traitors who betrayed their country returned to the Democrat-controlled South with their asses thoroughly kicked.

Many patriotic Americans wanted to arrest them for treason, but the prisons were already full.

Don't blame them. It's their culture. Image

Literally none of this is true.

By now, it has become apparent that this man is much dumber than people initially thought, but here is why this specific act of ignorance is so common.

A thread.
"Slavery was standard practice throughout earth..."

Let's start here.

While MOST societies (not all) had forms of involuntary subjugation, people who don't know things use their ignorance and privilege to flatten the idea of slavery.
I always found it funny that ppl who say "slavery existed in every society," also LOVE to differentiate between indentured servants and enslaved people.

Whitewashing the uncomfortable parts of the past doesn't just affect Black stories. For example, you can't fully appreciate how a peanut farmer from Plains, GA became a beloved president unless you know TRUE Black History.

The unwhitewashed history of Jimmy Carter:

A thread.
Jimmy Carter was a simple peanut farmer who grew up in Plains, GA when the deep South was defined by racism. His family taught him not to see color. Instead of asking for handouts, they focused on God, education and...

OK, none of that happened.
First of all, to understand where Jimmy Carter comes from, you have to go back a few generations. Because you probably already know a few of his cousins.

In fact, he might not even be the most famous person in his family. But I'll let you decide.

There's a very interesting connection between Mark Zuckerberg's right-wing turn and the guy who might be the most powerful person in American media. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, so...

A thread.
First of all, let's be clear. Mark Zuckerberg's didn't just announce changes to Meta's content moderation policy. He didn't even announce that Meta's content policy will change.

He announced that his company is willing to help kill people.

How?
First of all, replacing fact-checking with community notes doesn't just mean misinformation and hate will spread, it means people will die because of it.

For instance , Facebook removed MILLIONS of posts containing COVID misinformation.

If anyone knows anything about “wokeness” CRT, the national anthem and being a real American, it’s Brett Favre

A (short) thread
Brett Favre is a descendant of Simon Favre, a famous“interpreter” who could speak multiple native languages.

Simon entered the family business at a young age and owned dozens of slaves and 100s of acres

But that wasn’t the family business.

The Favres stole land Image
The scam worked like this:

The Favres would move near a native tribe, earn their trust and convince native Americans that giving up their land & assimilating was in their best interest.

In exchange, they could keep some of the stolen land

Simon was BORN FOR THIS Image

For five years, I have been covering what is unquestionably the biggest criminal justice scandal in American history.

Today it ended when the most corrupt cop in history took his life.

But it's not over.

A thread.
For 5 decades, police officer Roger Golubski sexually assaulted Black women and forced to give false testimony that he used to send Black men to prison while he ran a sex trafficking and drug cartel in Kansas City Kansas

theroot.com/a-criminal-inj…
The federal trial against Golubski was supposed to begin today.

He didn't show up

According to sources, Golubski ended his own life
