Today’s #GOPCThread discusses #The614forLinden & the success the 11+ member collaborative has had in implementing @ColumbusGov‘s #OneLinden Plan. GOPC has been helping evaluate its impacts in the neighborhood over 3 years. Check out our report from Year 2: bit.ly/3HObbWo
#The614forLinden, led by @OCCHstrong’s Ohio Capital Finance Corporation, received a $5M grant from @jpmorgan’s PRO Neighborhoods competition in 2019. Its other CDFI partners include Affordable Housing Trust for Columbus & Franklin County, @FinanceFund, & @ECDIoh#GOPCThread
#The614forLinden explicitly seeks to address the following 4 of the #OneLinden Plan’s big ideas: 1) Stabilize & Expand Housing Options, 2) Develop Business & Support Entrepreneurs, 3) Build Community Investment, and 4) Support Resident Health. #GOPCThreadourlinden.com
In its first 2 years, #The614forLinden exceeded several goals & overcame implementation hurdles, like COVID-19 making it hard to distribute info; slowing down loans, development, & programs; & causing an increased # of residents in crisis & need for services #GOPCThread
Since 2019, #The614forLinden has created a ≈$20M fund pool for affordable housing in Linden, which has supported Columbus MHA’s Rosewind Estates, @HomeportOH’s Mulby Place & Kenlawn Place, & Healthy Homes rental properties—projects representing $79.6M+ in investment #GOPCThread
#The614forLinden’s fund pool helped create/preserve 444 affordable housing units in Linden to date. The collaborative, through its partner @CommShelterBd, also stabilized ≈304 Linden residents at risk of homelessness through rental assistance & counseling #GOPCThread
Since 2019, #The614forLinden, through its partner @ECDIoh, helped 100 small business clients w/650+ hours of technical assistance & closed on 14 loans for 11 small businesses (located in Linden, owned by a Linden resident, or both), which created/retained 55 jobs #GOPCThread
#The614forLinden continuously provides wraparound health services for Linden residents, like @nationwidekids’s health education programming in Linden-based schools, parenting support, vaccine distribution, education, wellness checkups, & other preventive healthcare #GOPCThread
During COVID-19, #The614forLinden nimbly reallocated $70K to support @SSCH1919 & Community of Caring Development Foundation in purchasing fresh food & refrigeration equipment for their food pantries & providing emergency rent & utility assistance for Linden residents #GOPCThread
In Year 3, #The614forLinden plans for more impacts: @FinanceFund is finalizing agreements w/a small, Black-owned grocer coming to Linden; OCFC committed to fund 30 more Healthy Homes units; & @ECDIoh is ramping up community outreach to close more small business loans #GOPCThread
This week's #GOPCThread focuses on @CityofLimaOH the county seat of Allen County in Northwest Ohio. Lima was founded in 1831 on land occupied by the Shawnee before they were driven to Kansas by European settlers.
In the early 1800s much of northwest OH was referred to as #GreatBlackSwamp and was covered with wetlands and forests. The wet conditions in this area were ideal for mosquitos and as a result, malaria was endemic to the region. #GOPCThread
Some accounts say the buggy setting was instrumental in choosing the city’s name. Despite the Ohioans pronunciation of a /ī/ the name may have been chosen to recognize Lima, Peru’s critical role as source of the anti-malaria drug quinine. #GOPCThread

Today marks St. Patrick’s Day, a day to celebrate “all things Irish”. More than 14% of Ohio’s population can claim Irish Heritage.
That got us thinking about the heritage and diversity of Ohio. Most Ohioans are descended from immigrants who migrated here from someplace, and even today, Ohio continues to benefit from new generations of immigrants who are looking for new opportunities in the Buckeye State.
This week, our #GOPCThread looks at the immigrant generations of the past and present who have contributed to Ohio's amazing diversity & made the state an economic powerhouse
This week, our #GOPCThread is taking a look at the recently announced recipients of the first-ever Transformational Mixed-Use Development Tax Credits, or #TMUD, which were announced last week by the state

We are doing this as a way to promote the type of investments we think #Ohio and its communities should be making now in order to prepare for the future #GOPCThread
Pedestrian deaths spiked in the US during the height of the pandemic. While a lot of factors likely contributed to these higher rates, one thing is certain: promoting safe accommodation of all users should be key for future infrastructure planning nytimes.com/2022/02/14/us/…
