This is Donetsk Oblast. Oblasts are administrative regions with similar powers and organization to States here in the U.S. or Provinces in Canada.
This is Luhansk Oblast.
This is the CITY of Donetsk in - you guessed it - Donetsk Oblast.
This is the CITY of Luhansk in - you guessed it - Luhansk Oblast.
These two oblasts, along with portions of Rostov Oblast in Russia, makeup 'Donbas': a cultural economic region.

Think Cascadia here in the states or even the Blue Banana in Europe.
To combat Russian forces in Donbas, Kyiv established the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone). The ATO itself is divided into numerous sectors: most of which are geographic based.

Some are hyper specific to certain portions of the contact line.
Mariupol - in Donetsk Oblast - is not controlled by Russian forces. Nor is Sievierodonetsk in Luhansk Oblast.
Name dropping 'Donetsk' is convenient from a western prospective, but often incorrect.

On top of it all, thousands of cities all across Ukraine have the same shared names: something rather hard from an English prospective.

Context clues are everything this week!
While I have a captive audience...

STOP PLACING 'THE' IN FRONT OF THINGS. THAT MEANS NO 'THE UKRAINE'.

This small two block portion of central Belgorod has my particular focus today. Image
The site furthest south is notable for a few reasons.

For starters, the structural damage shown here is far worse than anywhere else in town. Several cars, windows, and the entire façade of a building are gone.
The fragmentation here is also unique; not appearing (at least at this scale) anywhere else in town. Image

Lets break down the attack on Belgorod: Image
What do we know for certain? Lets start with the easy stuff.

A series of large explosions were reported in the central district of Belgorod at/around 14:50 local time.

This time is corroborated by several matching timestamps via dashcam.
These explosions occurred across town, but the four most prominent hits occurred here.

From left to right:

* 50°35'52.8"N 36°35'00.6"E
* 50°35'56.3"N 36°35'07.2"E
* 50°35'56.4"N 36°35'09.7"E
* 50°35'58.9"N 36°35'22.9"E Image

Too busy making merry? Here's the full rundown on the sinking of the Novocherkassk last night in occupied Crimea.

At or around 2:50 AM local time, residents of occupied Feodosia noted a series of explosions in the direction of the main port facilities.

Many were woken from a deep sleep.

Notably, the 'big fireball' footage going around is actually from a few minutes later; perhaps closer to the 3:00-3:10 window.

This was - assumably - the mass detonation of onboard munitions.

Chesapeake blue crabs, not bald eagles, should be our national animal.

The fire may be out, but questions remain regarding the size, origin, and payload of the drone used in last night's attack.

Here's what we know so far...
Two blasts - one at 4:20 AM local time and one a minute later at 4:21 AM - were heard from across the harbor.

The attached photo was taken no later than 4:40 AM local time from a neighboring port, according to sources. Image
The drone(s) came from the direction of Cape Fiolent, were visible to the naked eye, and flew at a low altitude just minutes before detonation. Image
