EXCL: No 10 staff - including PM - will be able to see interview notes Sue Gray’s team made about them before they fill out their police questionnaires.

Leaked letter raises concerns they’ll be able to hold back from police any info Sue Gray didn’t get.

itv.com/news/2022-02-1…
When you consider that Met asked Sue Gray not to publish her full report in order to avoid prejudicing their investigation, it is interesting that those accused will get access to her team’s notes before formulating their answers to the police. Tho’ she imposes strict conditions.
If Sue Gray’s notes don’t incriminate you, then are you going to volunteer any extra info to the police at that stage?

Cabinet office guidance makes clear that staff should be honest in their police questionnaires. But ultimately how much they say is up to them.
A reminder that the PM has until tonight to return his questionnaire. Still time for a quick look at Sue Gray’s notes first.
Here is the full letter from Sue Gray to those being investigated.

In it she says it is NOT normal procedure to allow individuals to see notes made during an internal investigation into them.

But she feels the circumstances warrant “exceptional” measures.👇
More analysis from my chat with @eddiemair tonight here:
This is interesting from the civil servants’ union. They requested that staff should be able to review their own words given to Sue Gray’s team during interviews.

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan gave her the push today, dissatisfied with her response.

“It is with huge sadness that following contact with the Mayor of London today, it is clear that the Mayor no longer has sufficient confidence in my leadership to continue. He has left me no choice but to step aside.”

The danger with online conspiracy theories is that they don’t remain online.

Keir Starmer’s harassment here - heckled about Jimmy Savile - is pretty disturbing.
Boris Johnson has tonight tweeted his clear condemnation of the crowd.

But Labour are pointing out that he repeated the Jimmy Savile slur in Parliament last week.
Not just Labour who think the PM should fully withdraw his comments. This former Conservative Chief Whip does too.

BREAKING: Two more major resignations from Downing Street tonight, taking the total to four.

PM’s Chief of Staff Dan Rosenfield and Principal Private Secretary Martin Reynolds have both gone.

Statement from No 10 👇
Martin Reynolds was the civil servant who sent the email inviting over 100 staff to a garden party in May 2020, as we revealed last month.

Dan Rosenfield has been less exposed to the partygate scandal, but takes some responsibility for the overall culture in No 10.

Is this Boris Johnson attempting to clear out No 10 and “fix it” as he promised MPs on Monday?

Jack Doyle gave out awards at the Christmas party in No 10 during lockdown.

He says he’s left of his own choice and according to his own timing, but there was pressure on him to go over the partygate accusations, though the PM is said to have previously refused his resignation.
Jack Doyle is the second member of staff linked to the partygate allegations to have resigned since the scandal emerged. Allegra Stratton was until now the first and only advisor to go.
For background here’s our exclusive from December:

All detail stripped from Sue Gray's report, but it is still clear in its condemnation:

- Behaviour is "difficult to justify"

- "failures of leadership"

- "Some of the events should not have been allowed"

- "The excessive consumption of alcohol is not appropriate"
"There was too little thought given to what was happening across the country in considering the appropriateness of some of these gatherings, the risks they presented to public health and how they might appear to the public. There were failures of leadership and judgment."
