SEFF remembers the 12 innocent Protestants murdered in the La Mon House Massacre bombing by PIRA terrorists on 17/2/78

The Innocents:

Thomas Neeson, 41, from Lisburn, Co Antrim, married with 3 kids, he died along with his m-i-l Sarah Cooper .....

..Sarah Cooper, 62, from Alliance Cr, N Belfast.

Sandra Morris, 27, from Alliance Cr, N Belfast. Married with 2 kids - died along with her s-i-l Carol Mills. Her husband was seriously injured.

Carol Mills, 26, from Alliance Cr N Belfast. Her husband was injured. .....

..Ian McCracken, 25 & his wife of 18 mths, Elizabeth, 25, from Bangor, Co Down.

Daniel Magill, 37, from Dundonald, Co Down. His wife was injured in the attack & friends Dorothy & Paul Nelson killed.

Gordon Crothers, 30 & his wife Joan, 26, from Gilbourn Ct, E Belfast, (they ..

.. had a child)

Paul Nelson, 37 & wife Dorothy, 34, from Dundonald, Co Down. Parents of 2.

Christine Lockhart, 33, from Richhill, Co Armagh, married.

It has been described as 1 of the worst atrocities of the Troubles.

PIRA left a large incendiary bomb, containing a napalm..

..-like substance, outside one of the La Mon restaurant's windows. There were 450 diners, hotel staff & guests inside the building. PIRA said that they tried to send a warning from a public telephone, but were unable to do so until 9 mins before the bomb detonated.
The blast ...

..created a fireball, killing the 12 people & injuring 30 more, many severely burnt.

A Belfast native, Robert Murphy, received 12 life sentences in '81 & was freed on license in '95.

SEFF's thoughts & prayers are with all innocents impacted by this brutal sectarian attack.
