Hi. My name is Natalie. I’m a criminal defense attorney. In my free time I make videos on YouTube. They’re mostly just fun and educational videos about the law. In the past year+ I’ve reached 75k subscribers. I didn’t start covering the #dariuscooks saga because I want clout 🧵
My #dariuscooks videos have the least amount of views of almost anything I cover. I spend way more time researching them than I do anything else, so it costs me time I could be filming more lucrative content. I don’t put brand deals on the videos either 🧵
By and large, most of my core audience doesn’t care about Darius Williams. He is not well known amongst my subscribers because he exists mostly within an insular community of Millenial to Boomer black women. This is not my core audience 🧵
I cover #dariuscooks because his core victims are ME. Black women don’t make up most of my audience. But they do make up my life. They make up me and I’m WORRIED. As an attorney I’m worried about a man financially exploiting a financially vulnerable group. 🧵
I’m worried about him buying unsafe products from Ali baba and then selling them for triple the price, collecting funds on items he doesn’t deliver and misappropriating credit cards, social security numbers and personal information for personal gain or revenged 🧵
I’m worried that he charges 215 to have women that already suffer from co-morbidities that that make us more susceptible to negative outcomes from COVID19, sit in confined spaces and consume cheap, unhealthy food. 🧵
I’m worried that he recruits black women to harass and doxx other black women and hides behind a devoted fan base and his status as a black man amongst us. I’m concerned that he exploits or instinct to protect black men at all costs because of how unfairly they are treated 🧵
I’m very worried that it took another black man, actually confronting Darius Williams, to get him to stop harassing a black woman but that there has been another black woman staunchly standing up to Darius who has been attacked and vilified by her own sisters. 🧵
Legally, what Darius Williams is doing is a system of schemes, scams and grift which are criminal in nature, but because the victims are mostly black women, no one seems to care. I care though. So even if it costs me time and money, I got us. We are all we got. End
