A brief thread on ICNS:
1/ ICNS stands for Internet Computer Name Service, it essentially maps human-readable names to your crypto addresses and other custom user metadata. We believe a good name service is the fundamental component of the Web3 ecosystem
2/ it is built on the IC, the one and only truly web3 native platform, integrated with @plug_wallet, @dank_ois & @sonic_ooo's WICP for payment, @cap_ois for history tx storage, it is a demonstration of the capability of IC and the interoperability of open internet services
3/ The distribution of ICNS names will be through auction, name auction is the fairest way for initial name distribution, it helps reflect the true value of a name and avoid bots and whales grabbing too many names at early stage which is bad for the project’s sustainability
4/ To honor early contributors to the IC ecosystem, there is a list of reserved names available for claim after launch, it’s not possible to include everyone in the list but we equally respect all contributors to the ecosystem, thank you!
5/ We’ll be devoted to optimizing ICNS and expanding the ICNS ecosystem after its launch, making ICNS a solid foundation for the future Web3 ecosystem!
