Having analyzed Vinland Saga's Canute, I do kinda get why the Resurrection did not strengthen his faith
Or anyone's
On one level, the Church back then probably did not fully transmit its hopeful message of restoration, thus not predestining us to damnation
On another level, as I laid out in previous tweets
Canute could not imagine what Resurrection hope is
In the Gospels, Jesus did not transform the human body into something else when he rose
Instead, it was elevated to what it was meant for before the Fall of Man
The Resurrection is the hope that gives Christian faith its meaning
It is not that we benefit solely from Christ dying on the Cross
If it was just that, we remain guilty, unreached
But bec we are meant to be resurrected with Jesus
That death does not have the final say
God does
I am hoping to dissect this "gap" in Canute's processing of his faith when Vinland S2 comes out
Which is why his dynamic with Thorfinn feels important
The renewal of a fallen Viking, who now sees dignity in others, could make him hope in the Resurrection too
As the Apostles did
Some details of this type of analysis I will save for perhaps another thread or even a possible academic analysis applying literature or religious themes
Vinland Canute is fascinating for what some do not notice and what is not fully explored yet is known via his Christian faith

The Red Flags of Yeagerism: How Fascism Corrupts Our Shingeki

This thread covers the red flags Isayama has left to warn us of the rise of fascism in Attack on Titan, which reflects the past and our present

Throughout the thread, we will define fascism by example Image
Ep 82 shows a fully formed picture of the Yeagerists, fulfilling every red flag since Ep 67
We see how fascism corrupts the dedication of one’s heart into an ultranationalist commitment that only leads people to a politics of eternal warfare
Where individual freedom is forgotten ImageImageImageImage

All living the Hero (Helos) complex but never seeing that they have worth because they are born into this world. ImageImage

I commend every animator who did work in S3Ep10
I know everyone loved the photorealistic burning Yoshiwara
But Uzui's charge at Gyutaro stood out the most to me
Combined ufotable's heavy special effects with great choreography, diverse art styles and overall spectacular animation ImageImageImageImage
This episode reminded me why I heavily value special effects guys like Sakai
I do agree that Demon Slayer's impressive animation banks on sfx and CGI, those are not detriments but a norm that show how far we have come
But this episode really combines all that into an art form ImageImageImageImage
Is this the best episode in animation or KnY?
No
I feel it is either Episode 19 or Episode 7 of Mugen Train
Mostly because they combine technical polish with better plot, characterization and emotional weight
This one applies DS' usual strength of showing the weight of struggle

MHA S5 Episode 22: Sad Man's Parade
Now we have a well-directed episode
The simplistic backgrounds or bad art are lessened and we got more animation
What dominates the episode is Twice's voice acting
You could really feel his struggle all around up until he lets loose later
On the animation
I think CGI Doubles works here somewhat and it is not overused or bad
It was fine
This episode also has a more dynamic camera
Also the early part of the Re-Destro fight was fun to watch
The fact Shiggy and the rest were Doubles in the Tower was easy to track too
Some nice details here
So far, the anime depicts Stress quite well, especially as we see the dark marks envelop Re-Destro's body
Oh and I love how Geten maxed out his ice to take down all the Twices
And I am glad we hear Rampaging Evil more here
The OG theme for the League

Ymir Fritz - The Lost Girl of Humanity
The one who was never meant to be fully understood
The one who could only find herself when she finally moved forward
The one trapped in a matrix of slavery that sums up the nature of dehumanization in Attack on Titan
A devil, a slave, a god
It is sheer brilliance for Attack on Titan to have its monsters be giants
Norse myth speaks of Armin's sights similar to the Nine Realms
And well you can see why it was also brutally ingenious for Isayama to deconstruct the creation of those Realms
In the butchering of one girl
AoT's history is muddled in so much propaganda, nationalism and limited literacy barely anyone really knows how the story began
Owl says about how we make our gods or devils
Magath says the hero Helos, who saved Marley, was an empty shell
Ymir is the same
The shell of Midgard

Happy Birthday to the guy who made some of my favorite OST ever
T-KT, XL-TT, 0sk, Call of Silence, Eye Water and more
Oh and this shit that makes me cry with its lyrics alone
Maybe my favorite AoT track ever
Okay Sawano, we get it
God gave you the gift of music

Episode 21 of MHA Season 5
Was not that bad
Weighing the episode overall, I was pretty satisfied with the Toga content while noticing where Season 5 lacked
Impact
Some character art and bland backgrounds make some of the impact that the scene tried to display dull
Music good tho
By re-reading the chapters before the episode, I ound it was okay but I noticed some scenes' art looked good but the rest felt flat (scene 3 has more detailed background guy tho)
Everyone talked about the Shigaraki scene but I will say the scene distortion was a good effect
The first ten minutes or less were definitely not impressive
Minus the Meta-Liberation Army backstory, which was good, the start felt a lil boring plus the fight with the Deika citizens barely had any punch
The episode picks up much later but it still has issues
