That would also means mainland China would be 2x its current GDP. Totally dwarf the US economy. US will not be able to intervene in cross-Strait relations even if it wants to because its relative strength would be too weak

Kids nowadays have it easy when they can just order mulberry tree leaves on Taobao.

When I was growing up in China in 1980s, I had to hunt/gather mulberry tree leaves all over Chongqing University campus to feed my 10-20 silk worms. lol
Mulberry trees grow in the wild on Chongqing University campus, and they're tall for little kids to reach. I had to bring a pole to bring down the leaves to feed my silkworms

When I traveled to Zhejiang to see Grandma, I marveled at field of domesticated short Mulberry trees
I also just learned that you can buy silk worms in store now. lol. Back in 1980s Chongqing, I had to get precious silk worm eggs from friends to hatch them myself. lol

According to “China Called Me”, autobiography by Percy Chen, his father Eugene Chen, the Foreign Minister of China invented the phrase in 1927 as a negotiation tactic w British to take back British Concessions in Wuhan.
Eugene Chen's dad, a 1-legged Taiping rebel escaped Qing suppression of Taiping Rebellion to the Caribbean as an coolie turned shopkeeper. Mom raised Eugene in the grocery shop on Trinidad aft Dad's death. Eugene became a lawyer, married Agatha Ganteaume, daughter of a slave.
