I find it interesting that when Jews try to explain anti-semitism, such as recent articles by a rather prominent Rabbi in the UK, explanations range from “well we’re different” to
1)

“anti-semites hate us because of the moral values of Torah”. Neither is really all that correct. After all, they cannot despise us for our moral values that we bring to the world when they claim to own them themselves as part of their claim to be our spiritual successors.

There are really two reasons for anti-Semitism.

The first is in the ideology/theology of Christianity, in its dual claim to own universal truth and to be the successor to Judaism in the Covenant.
3)

It is a matter of credibility for Christianity, that if what they say and do is true, then the Jews should have joined them and submitted to their beliefs, and the fact that the Jews have resisted doing so is a criticism of Christian belief at best,
4)

an affront to the truth as they define it, at worse, leaving these dissenting Jews to be either fools or evil and therefore to be despised, rather than to admit something is lacking in Christian theology.
5)

This dates from the Council of Nicea when dissenting Christian views were also eliminated, their books banned and their leaders lives shortened, somtimes violently.

And Islam in its early days, adopted from both Judaism and Christianity so as to convert and incorporate both peoples, and with that adopted the Christian idea of owning exclusive universal truth - and so the rest followed - intolerance to those who refuse to conform.

The rest - the demonization, the libels, the hate, all comes from that - excuses and rationalizations for this refusal to conform. And it became built into Christian and Muslim civilization, so even where there is secularism, secularism is intolerant of real dissent, and

anti-Semitism remains Socialism, Communism, European secularism all have been said to be Christian heresies, keeping the outlook of Christianity, Hellenism at its roots - man helpless to control his fate without the help of a hero — just substitute for “Hero”, Jesus, or

the State, etc. and there you have it. So historically when the Church had problems, from financial to natural disasters, the answer was to blame the Jews, and when Stalin had problems, blame the Jews, and when Germany had problems, blame the Jews, and

today we see the same European cultural attitude that is often hostile to the State of Israel.

The second reason is a bit different. It is the “bully” phenomenon. Schoolyard bullies pick on kids they see as weaker, more vulnerable, and unable or unwilling to fight back,

to retaliate. And Bullies have hangers-on that get excited and feel powerful siding with the Bully and encouraging the bully. The Jewish People for 2000 years were a small, vulnerable minority everywhere in the Christian and Muslim Worlds, unable and

at times unwilling to fight back, to retaliate, to defend themselves from abuse. This is the dream of the bully — whether the kid in the schoolyard or the Lord of the region or the Government looking for scapegoats. Vulnerability invites the bully.

So there it is. And today we have anti-semitism where there are no Jews. And we have anti-semitism affecting how some countries have a double standard when it comes to the State of Israel, the Jewish State.

And the bullies are out in force — just a bit more sophisticated than the bully in the schoolyard.

The UN General Assembly, where the bullies speak and their hangers-on applaud them because they lose nothing by siding with the bullies,

assuming that the Jews (Israel) will just smile and ignore the insult and the abuse for another day. And Arab stone-throwers will be out overlooking the roads outside Jerusalem because they know there is little risk, that the Jews will do nothing but complain and

cry and fix their damaged cars. Bullies. Having fun. Making themselves heroes. All at the expense of the Jewish people. And some Jews will miss the point and assume that if they just change themselves, change Judaism, give up land, be nicer, make sure the enemy is happy,

all the hate will go away. Sorry, it does not work that way. Be nice and the bullies will still be bullies.

And just this week in February 2022, the head of the Presbyterian Church in America, the same organization that voted in favor of the BDS Movement

a couple of years ago, compared Israel’s handling of Judea and Samaria to “slavery and fascism”. Demonstrating that in that Church, antisemitism is alive and well."
