it’s been nearly 3 months since i was arrested at gunpoint on Wet’suwet’en Yintah, and i’ve been following a lot of the news coming out about recent events on the territory 1/
it’s very telling how so many politicians are denouncing the events that have taken place, and how silent they all were when our human rights and rights as Indigenous peoples were violated in late november 2/
it’s also disgusting that people view this damage of property and machines as violence, and not the total destruction of our territories, our rivers, and our salmon as the most genocidal and violent act that’s taking place here. 3/
i was in jail for 4 days alongside people who are family to me for standing up for the Wedzin Kwa, the Yintah, and our future generations as Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en people. 4/
The RCMP brought snipers, assault weapons, K-9 units, and over 80 officers to remove us from what had become our home. They burned down, bulldozed, and disposed of all our homes. That’s violence. The rcmp and industry have always meant violence in our communities 5/
also a reminder that Indigenous, Black, and people of color shouldn’t have to fit a peaceful narrative to be respected when we continue to have our rights and bodies and lands destroyed. in general, we are allowed to be full of rage and we are allowed to fight back. 6/
it’s an important time to stay critical of the pigs, cgl, and people that attempt to police the resistance. canada declared war on our people when they tried to strip us of our sovereignty. we are the flesh of our land, Wedzin Kwa is our life blood. #AllOutForWedzinKwa 7/7
