55 mins into the Rogan/Nawaz conversation Nawaz fans the flames of conspiracy with the suicide of David Kelly. "He turned out dead. No one knows what happened to him... It's all weird... It's officially 'suicide' or whatever... who knows?"

The pathologist knows.
Now they are throwing Epstein and JFK into the "who knows?" category. This relies entirely on conspiracy theory and a rejection of documented facts. Some people confuse incredulity and rejection of anything official with scepticism. And they are not the same thing.
Much of it (so far) is great. Maajid is charismatic, intelligent and right about a lot of stuff. Which makes his Covid/election conspiracies all the more frustrating.
Returning to this now. Finally getting to vaccines and lockdowns. Rogan to his credit is doing a great job at pushing back/providing the alternate view to Nawaz's opinions (so far)
Ok, now Maajid Nawaz is repeating the incredibly misleading claim that only 17,000 people have died solely of Covid in the UK.

BBC News - Covid: Posts claiming only 17,000 died of virus 'factually incorrect'
bbc.co.uk/news/60145237
Maajid "The vaccine has not been tested for any long-term side effects". Whenever I hear this, I never get answers to the following:

1. How long is it reasonable to wait and why?
2. If the completed trials aren't sufficient, which standard of testing/trials are you appealing to?
Now Maajid is saying he distrusts the vaccine rollout because 'they' injected him against his will in an Egyptian prison and 'they' (the CIA) once collected DNA in Pakistan under the guise of vaccination to track Bin Laden. This distrust only makes sense if Covid doesn't exist
Now Maajid is trying to convince us how evil big pharma is. Yes. Agreed. Big pharma bad. But what does that tell us about the data on the efficacy/safety of vaccines? Nothing is the answer. You can't get from 'Big Pharma bad' to therefore 'vaccines bad' without ignoring facts
It's pre-covid. It did happen. But it's still not a good reason to be distrustful of Covid vaccines theguardian.com/world/2011/jul…

I do think Nawaz makes a lot of sense on the shifting goalposts of lockdowns in the UK. E g, just do X for Y amount of time until Z happens and then you can have your lives back. But alas, there are still people that would have us in lockdown right now if they could
Maajid Nawaz here, who told GB News the other day that he "doesn't talk about vaccines" just throwing around the idea that vaccines may be causing an increase in death and heart attacks. Totally responsible, just asking questions stuff.
Scotland's always been ahead in UK for lifestyle related heart issues. The increase is mostly related to blocked arteries. Is this something people are claiming a vaccine does? Why only Scots? A better argument would be the impact of lockdowns on health thetimes.co.uk/article/myster…
Now 'Nawaz' is referencing this story as an example of media "manipulation" and "deceit" because he died after vaccination and was described as 'anti-vax'. A few points incoming as to why this is incredibly weak sauce from Nawaz...

independent.co.uk/sport/olympics…
1. He's described as 'anti-vax' because he shared several anti-vax posts on his social media

2. He finally got jabbed so he could continue working as a coach

3. He contracted & died from Covid soon after 1st jab.

4. Protection from vaccination isn't immediate.
I've absolutely no idea why 'Nawaz' is in quotes there. Completely unintentional.
But anyway, the gymnastic coach story is a tragic case study in why you shouldn't delay your vaccination. It's also an example of perfectly accurate reporting. Quite why Nawaz thought this was a compelling example of media "deceit" and "manipulation", I've no idea.
This is the 'logic' I really struggle with. Maajid is now rejecting any possibility that world leaders acted in "good faith" during Covid. It can't possibly be incompetence or new info arriving in real-time during an unprecedented scenario. It must be a malicious conspiracy
Maajid makes a good point about the lab leak hypothesis being outright rejected as conspiracy to begin with. It's now perceived as credible/probable. However,

1. It's still not confirmed as fact. People didn't know then and they don't know now either
2. The lab leak claims were often also wrapped up in claims of China *intentionally engineering and releasing* the Covid virus for the purposes of genocide/losing Trump an election/destabilising Western governments etc etc
Now we get to the meat. Nawaz appears to believe Covid mandates (vaccine passports etc) were devised to help usher in a Chinese style social credits system. Digital money, controlled by the government, where they could force you to buy vegan instead of meat apparently. Ok
This new incoming digital currency could also extend to preventing people from buying an airplane ticket to appear on the Joe Rogan show if the government decides your opinions are bad. But a government wouldn't need digital currency to stop you from flying...
I'm not sure how we went from Covid vaccines and mandates (many of which have already been dropped or will be) to "The government is only going to allow us to buy bugs for dinner".
The flying example truly is a terrible one given the fact you already require a literal passport to do it. It already is the 'papers please' system already. I'm going to have to assume he was just trying to think on his feet and will later see it wasn't the best punt
I initially used 'appears' here just in case my interpretation of what he was saying may have been incorrect (actual scepticism). However around the 2:17 mark he is completely unambiguous that that is exactly what he thinks
"It's not about vaccine passports. This was a red herring". Apparently, Covid mandates were a Trojan horse for the *actual* goal, which was so "they" could control the economy and media narrative in an attempt to maintain their power over us. A literal global conspiracy
He's now even skipping ahead from this dystopian power grab conspiracy to the inevitable civil war arising from it. But fear not, we are in greater numbers than "them" so we will triumph in the end. Some good news then at least.
Now Maajid is claiming mass vaccination during a pandemic is not normal and can actually cause mutations, and therefore worse variants that can evade the vaccine. Not really. Not to mention the worst variant (Delta) arrived before vaccination rollout

science.org/content/blog-p…
Please remember. This is someone that "doesn't talk about vaccines". It's just the mandates he takes issue with. But here's another ten issues he has with the vaccines anyway...
Worth listening to. It's a mixed bag. He's great on some things, but prone to conspiratorial thinking on others. What worries me is how much credibility he lends to conspiracies for certain audiences utterly convinced they are immune to 'narrative'.
Maajid draws attention to a case in Canada where a father was denied the right to see his son because the father was unvaccinated. This is true, and I agree seems like an unjustifiable overreach. Canada doesn't make a lot of sense to me right now.
bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-…
Nawaz is decrying vaccination requirement for organ transplant. I don't think this is especially unreasonable. All sorts of requirements are mandatory for medical procedures of this nature. People with new organs are especially vulnerable to Covid

google.com/amp/s/amp.theg…
Look at it this way, medication that carries far greater risks then vaccination is often a requirement of eligibility for certain medical procedures. Before & after. Medical professionals are trying to ensure survival of vulnerable patients & optimise precious resources (organs).
Perhaps he heard Nawaz on Rogan and decided the game was up. Back to the drawing board on that Trojan horse, bug eating Orwellian plot to maintain power over us all.
When asked if this is a conspiracy: "It's a revolution... and it needs a counter-revolution". He's doing a radical again...

And it's also "psychological operations, military grade". Because something about a commie at SAGE.
Ok, if you want to know what the 77th Brigade does in their own words (as opposed to Maajid Nawaz's description lifted from the mouth of the dubious 'Middle East Eye'), it's here. These are the guys behind brainwashing us all in to compliance apparently. army.mod.uk/who-we-are/for…
I mean, this could have been a description of Quilliam.
Maajid is claiming the goals of the 77th brigade were "exposed" due to a "leak". Yet the public website that clearly states their goals, existence and MO goes back at least as far as 2019. web.archive.org/web/2019080104…
Here we go. The World Economic Forum, Tony Blair and The Great Reset. The orchestrators of the impending "checkpoint society" apparently. And the gotcha Maajid Nawaz presents is Blair & Klaus Schwab talking publicly about... being influential. They are the WEF.
I've made it to the end. In conclusion, Maajid isn't Alex Jones levels of nutbaggery. He's incredibly smart, articulate & correct about a lot. But he's tragically susceptible to conspiracy theory & makes gigantic leaps about "them". As he did for weeks about "stolen elections"
I'd recommend listening to it for yourself & see if you notice which points stray into demagoguery and conspiracy. I don't agree that conversations like this should be 'censored' or removed from Spotify. It's not a perfect system, but daylight remains the best disinfectant

"I don't speak about the vaccines". This is just an outright lie. He's pumped out a stream of nonsense on the efficacy and safety of vaccines. And now he's trying to distance himself. Like the way he pretended his 'stolen election' derangement never happened
This was the other week for example. I'm not sure if this was before or after him banging on about the 'New World Order'.
I spoke to @Iram_Ramzan about Maajid Nawaz's conspiratorial crankery on the latest Taking The Myth. Skip to 43:34

1. A brief rant on those who claim they aren't anti-vaxxers but totally are. I first started mucking about on Twitter and creating content in 2012. My focus has always been scepticism and challenging irrational beliefs. Especially when those beliefs can be linked to harm.
2. Anti-vaxxers were always a focus, because pre-pandemic, anti-vax cranks were almost exclusively Christian conservatives. And flakey West Coast 'spiritual' types, oddly. Back then, the big baseless bogeyman was autism. And how vaccines were responsible (they weren't).
3. I released a podcast on this issue in 2015. And it's staggering how little daylight there is between this type of anti-vaxxer and the Covid era 'I'm definitely not an anti-vaxxer but..' types. gspellchecker.com/2015/11/ep71-s…

The @royalacademy have issued an apology to artist Jess de Wahls. They initially removed her work from their shop and publicly accused her of having 'transphobic views' for stating that  "humans can not change sex". To their credit, the apology is solid. Thank you RA Image
Congratulations to @JessDeWahls. I can only imagine how unpleasant this whole thing has been. A reminder that it is fearless women that are on the front line of this debate who find themselves demonized and attacked for speaking simple truths. Don't abandon them to the mob.
There's a startling contrast in the response to this apology. Overwhelmingly, those critical of the RA's initial decision are now praising them for their robust apology. Fair is fair. This never happens when someone apologizes to the woke mob however. They twist the knife more.

1. Far-right extremism has been intellectually terminated in the uk, thankfully. That's not to say it doesn't exist, it does. But whenever it rears its racist intolerant head, civil society, authorities and institutions oppose it unanimously. It no longer gets a seat at the table
2. Things can regress however, which is why it's important to keep challenging/rejecting the bad ideas/violence of the far-right. It's also why we need to apply the same standards to the current rise of far-left extremism
3. The far-left in recent years have succeeded in bringing about a return of racial identity politics, dividing & defining people by skin colour. They have advocated political violence & criminal damage in service of their goals. And they have enjoyed mainstream support for it.

I'm currently reading 'White Fragility', and so far there's a heavy emphasis on the argument "if you disagree with me, it just proves that I am right".

I was truly expecting something more challenging. Perhaps it'll pick up. Perhaps not.
Ugh. I've just got to a section where it's argued that it's simply not enough to accept you have privilege handed to you because of your white skin. No, that's too passive & implies lack of choice. You must acknowledge that you are actively, consciously complicit in this act
This is exactly why it's like a religion. It doesn't matter how hard you try to satisfy all the dogmas and injunctions, there will still be those whose zealotry will demand further sacrifice of your faculties.

Wakey wakey. I'll be providing some commentary from the Speaking Truth To Social Justice conference today. A really ideologically diverse group of people in the room today.
I got to meet and shake the hand of Alan Sokal of 'The Sokal Affair' infamy moments ago. He's here today en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_aff…
After the opening remarks from Michael O'Fallon, @peterboghossian will take to the podium with 'How Social Justice Silences'.
