Those of us that have dipped our toe in this conflict over the years have witnessed Hamas/Islamic Jihad friendly fire confirmed time and time again. Usually a little while after every outlet had pointed the finger at the IDF.

These latest claims from Israel need to be independently verified of course, but to run with Hamas's claims as though they are fact betrays a lack of knowledge (or care) for how this conflict always plays out.

Israel-Hamas war: Israel says it will release evidence which it claims shows an Islamic Jihad rocket hit the Gaza hospital This is from 2001, where apparently around 430 Hamas rockets fell short and landed in the Gaza strip

Some women want to speak some words in Liverpool, so naturally the police are having to separate masked wearing blokes from getting to them #LetWomenSpeak Image #LetWomenSpeakLiverpool Image

There has been a lot of rumour and speculation in regards to who would be the subject of an upcoming episode of the investigative current affairs programme 'Dispatches'.

It has been revealed that it will focus on Russell Brand and include some serious accusations of a criminal nature.

I've enjoyed Brand's comedy here and there. I found his far-left "bring on the revolution" phase a bit embarrassing. But I'm less impressed by what he has become since: a peddler of dangerous conspiracy theories to an audience of very online people duped into thinking Brand is 'just asking the questions' that 'they' don't want him to.

When in reality, those of us that haven't fell into the rabbit hole can see he is simply just mining a surplus of credulity for clicks.

Brand has already tried to get ahead of the game. Unsurprisingly he claims a coordinated conspiracy by 'the media' because he is out there telling the people the 'truth'.

I don't know the full extent of the accusations against him. I'll be keeping an open, critical mind when watching Dispatches this evening and weighing them up on the evidence provided.

Join me for a tweet-a-long at 9pm (UK time)

Getting ready for the #WomensRally in Edinburgh today. Lots of speakers. Lots of issues. Hoping for an eventful but peaceful morning Some of the messages around the stage. Seems that there isn't any sort of counter-protest so far #WomensRally

Never forget: when women were taken from their homes by the police, had their electronic devices seized, clothes searched and held in a cell for an *accusation* that they *may have posted something mean on the internet*, this is how @PinkNews covered it. I don't know a whole lot about Caroline Farrow except that she seems to be a staunch Catholic. I probably disagree with her on almost every 'spiritual' & political issue. However, if you can't uphold principles when it comes to those you don't like, then you don't have principles

This is a great result. All employers should really think twice about demanding compliance with gender woo from now on

Congrats Maya!

I'm in my home city of Manchester this afternoon. @StandingforXX is due to speak at 1pm. A sizeable counter-protest has already gathered. Fingers crossed for a peaceful afternoon A number of men dressed in black with face coverings are embedded within the counter-protest.

I'm at the #WPUKManchester event this evening. Looking forward to hearing from the speakers. Sounds like a protest of undetermined size outside (I can hear them, but not see them). I'm not sure what they think is going to be said that is so egregious, but I'll let you know. #WPUKManchester

55 mins into the Rogan/Nawaz conversation Nawaz fans the flames of conspiracy with the suicide of David Kelly. "He turned out dead. No one knows what happened to him... It's all weird... It's officially 'suicide' or whatever... who knows?"

The pathologist knows. Now they are throwing Epstein and JFK into the "who knows?" category. This relies entirely on conspiracy theory and a rejection of documented facts. Some people confuse incredulity and rejection of anything official with scepticism. And they are not the same thing.

"I don't speak about the vaccines". This is just an outright lie. He's pumped out a stream of nonsense on the efficacy and safety of vaccines. And now he's trying to distance himself. Like the way he pretended his 'stolen election' derangement never happened This was the other week for example. I'm not sure if this was before or after him banging on about the 'New World Order'.

1. A brief rant on those who claim they aren't anti-vaxxers but totally are. I first started mucking about on Twitter and creating content in 2012. My focus has always been scepticism and challenging irrational beliefs. Especially when those beliefs can be linked to harm. 2. Anti-vaxxers were always a focus, because pre-pandemic, anti-vax cranks were almost exclusively Christian conservatives. And flakey West Coast 'spiritual' types, oddly. Back then, the big baseless bogeyman was autism. And how vaccines were responsible (they weren't).

The @royalacademy have issued an apology to artist Jess de Wahls. They initially removed her work from their shop and publicly accused her of having 'transphobic views' for stating that  "humans can not change sex". To their credit, the apology is solid. Thank you RA Image Congratulations to @JessDeWahls. I can only imagine how unpleasant this whole thing has been. A reminder that it is fearless women that are on the front line of this debate who find themselves demonized and attacked for speaking simple truths. Don't abandon them to the mob.

1. Far-right extremism has been intellectually terminated in the uk, thankfully. That's not to say it doesn't exist, it does. But whenever it rears its racist intolerant head, civil society, authorities and institutions oppose it unanimously. It no longer gets a seat at the table 2. Things can regress however, which is why it's important to keep challenging/rejecting the bad ideas/violence of the far-right. It's also why we need to apply the same standards to the current rise of far-left extremism

I'm currently reading 'White Fragility', and so far there's a heavy emphasis on the argument "if you disagree with me, it just proves that I am right".

I was truly expecting something more challenging. Perhaps it'll pick up. Perhaps not. Ugh. I've just got to a section where it's argued that it's simply not enough to accept you have privilege handed to you because of your white skin. No, that's too passive & implies lack of choice. You must acknowledge that you are actively, consciously complicit in this act

Wakey wakey. I'll be providing some commentary from the Speaking Truth To Social Justice conference today. A really ideologically diverse group of people in the room today. I got to meet and shake the hand of Alan Sokal of 'The Sokal Affair' infamy moments ago. He's here today en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_aff…

@MythicistMKE @AmericanAtheist @WEEDMONTON @aliamjadrizvi Absolutely. Singling out Harris and Dawkins as contributing factors to a terrorist attack in New Zealand is not only deranged, but dangerous and cowardly. @MythicistMKE @AmericanAtheist @WEEDMONTON @aliamjadrizvi I'll no longer be supporting @AmericanAtheist (and will be telling others not to bother either) until they can clarify:

1. If it's necessary to openly criticise Islam

2. Whether Harris & Dawkins are anti-Muslim bigots.

Hatchet. The New Statesman printed the above quote simply as "Each Chinese person is a kind of replica of the next one and that is a very frightening thing"

The original context makes it an attack on the effects of authoritarianism in China. Their editing just makes it racist. Shameful

1. Shaun King is a dangerous, race-baiting hack. Once again, he is sharing selective and false information in order to push an anti-white narrative. This time, a selectively edited video 2. Here's what actually happened though. This kid did nothing wrong.

1. Wow, in a recent episode of his podcast, CJ Werleman reveals that he is backed by MEND & associated with CAGE. (ht @concretemilk) 2. Its director, Asim Qureshi, has repeatedly refused to condemn stoning people to death and described ISIS executioner Jihadi John as a "beautiful young man" gspellchecker.com/2016/09/why-ca…

Nothing learned from the last time this happened it seems. However, if he has been arrested for 'breach of peace' & not 'contempt of court' this time, I'll be interested in the justification/details

1. Ok, so a brief thread on the problem of disconnect, labels and laziness. I was at the #DayForFreedom event on Sunday. I spotted a young man with a #MAGA cap & a #Kekistan flag. I decided to go and speak to him (like what journalists used to do) 2. Here he explains that he doesn't know much about Trump, but loves the way Trump annoys the left and wants to get in on it. Not big, or clever, but fine. I ask him about the 'Nazi' connotations of his flag and he explains it is satire.
