Pediactric ICU surge: 11% in PICU—1 in 9 admitted ended up in PICU according to this. Though this article is worded quite strangely so that's what I've estimated based on this.
The Irish gov planning to get rid of masks in schools etc, despite all this, sounds familiar...
No offence intended to Cianan Brennan who wrote this article, but TBH, what have you been waiting for? Omicron is more severe in children: even the UK has a massive study showing it's as severe as Delta in children.
We first started reporting on the increase in severity in children with Omicron in late November: we are now nearly 3 months since that point...could you move any slower?
The whole article, aside from the child admission data, is just about why we should wear masks for a little bit longer, etc. Yep. No shit.
