Mining pools are often caught in the middle of BTC upgrades, but there's rarely enough time or preparation for pools to consult their users about upgrades.
Luxor is crafting a playbook to change that so that our miners can be more active in consensus 👇
When Taproot's Speedy Trial began, Luxor felt that there wasn't enough time for our miners to thoughtfully review Taproot to voice any feedback or concerns.
Indeed, in Taproot as in other upgrades, mining pools were treated as stand-ins for their entire client base.
Some criticized the Speedy Trial for this very reason: pool users had little-to-no say.
For future upgrades, we want to open dialogue between devs and *all* miners early on so that miners knows what the upgrade is and what role, if any, they may play in the activation process.
Our playbook includes four parts: (1) Education, (2) Feedback, (3) Financial Support and (4) Signaling Support.
1) Luxor will educate its miners and others on future protocol upgrades
2) Luxor and its miners will provide developers with feedback on upgrades
3) Luxor will provide financial support to Bitcoin development and bug bounties for proposed upgrades
4) If pools are necessary for activating an upgrade, Luxor will reach a consensus among its users before pledging support
As BTC's userbase grows, it will be critical to translate complex technical changes into clear language for new and old users alike.
We hope that other miners and Bitcoin companies will join us in shining a light on Bitcoin’s overshadowed but incredible open-source governance.

Hey Luxor miners, we've got a new software product for you...👀
Introducing Relay, a lightweight proxy server built to improve connections between Luxor Pool and our miners, particularly those with weak internet.
Why did we build Relay and what are its features?
A quick 🧵
Relay is a stratum-compatible proxy for managing large scale ASIC deployments. It can be run on a @Raspberry_Pi (or similar hardware) or the cloud.
Relay can help miners with bad internet (e.g., those in rural areas or O&G sites) lower their bandwidth and boost connectivity.
With Relay, you can:
-Have a single connection for up to 65,000 miners, thus reducing load on your farm's network
-Manage connection redundancy. If the pool disconnects, miners don't drop
-Lower bandwidth by compressing shares by up to 90%
-Improved efficiency and reduce stales
