Ex-UNRWA official who calls Israel an “apartheid” state and equates Palestinian suffering with the Holocaust is the UNHRC's pick to be Palestine Rapporteur. Asking @FranceskAlb to investigate Israel is like asking Putin to investigate Ukraine. It's absurd. unwatch.org/un-nominates-i…
The nomination of Francesca Albanese was announced in a letter published today by U.N. Human Rights Council president Federico Villegas.
She has repeatedly accused Israel of “apartheid,” “genocide” and “war-crimes.”
Here she equates the Palestinian 'nakba' with the Holocaust:
The UNHRC president’s decision to nominate a radical activist who has devoted her life to campaigning against Israel constitutes a gross violation of the council’s own rules, which require impartiality and objectivity in the appointment of mandate-holders.
Albanese hates Israel with a passion, labeling it an evil, racist & colonialist state. This nomination is absurd, and a travesty of justice.
We call on the U.S., Canada, Australia, Britain, France, Germany and other democracies that support human rights to oppose the nomination.
The mandate of UN Palestine Rapporteur is inherently biased—only looking at Israel, and presuming guilt in advance. See our report, "Mandate to Discriminate": unwatch.org/wp-content/upl…
Still, the UNHRC President must select an individual who is impartial. He has done the opposite.
Because appointments typically require consensus approval, the small minority of democracies on the council—including the US, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands—can insist that the president cancel the nomination, and choose someone who is not an anti-Israeli radical like Albanese.

Report: Syria's Assad regime has such a tight grip on aid groups’ access to the country that it has become normal for relatives of senior Assad regime officials to have jobs within United Nations bodies.
The report found that Mohamad Hamsho, a businessman close to both the army elite and the dictator’s brother Maher al-Assad, had won U.N. procurement contracts to strip metals in areas retaken by the government and rework them for sale at his Hadeed Metal Manufacturing Company.
.@UNDP contracted the “Aleppo Defenders Legion”, a pro-regime militia that forcibly displaced Syrians, to clear rubble and rehabilitate the city they helped destroy.
The UN did zero human rights due diligence when giving out millions of dollars in contracts to serial abusers.
