Good morning from Kyiv. Explosions heard by NPR correspondents here and in Odesa and Kharkiv.
Wi-Fi and cell service as well as electricity seem to be holding up.
Someone approached us here and asked if we heard explosions. When we said yes, he appeared bewildered. “Here? In Kyiv?!”

Explosions are still being heard here in Central Kyiv. Very nervous energy around… very hard to describe but people are walking and moving and talking with a deep anxiety… haltingly and out of breath
Biden has just gotten off phone w Zelensky
Biden: “Tomorrow, I will be meeting with the Leaders of the G7, and the United States and our Allies and partners will be imposing severe sanctions on Russia.”
As Zelensky imposed martial law across the country he urged citizens not to panic.
“We are strong,” he said, adding, “glory to Ukraine.”
In a statement the Ukrainian defense minister said that the country’s military defenses would hold
"Warn your loved ones about what is happening. Take care of those who need help. All thoughts and prayers are with our soldiers. Glory to Ukraine!" writes the Ukrainian president this morning. It is 9 a.m. here in Kyiv.
"Drastic declines in spending on core operations create the potential for a revenue ‘death spiral’ in which cuts in core programs scare off members, which in turn necessitates further cuts... can be hard to reverse.”
“As the decision to get vaccinated is a personal medical choice that should be made free from coercion and mandates from employers, the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave" said an agency spokesperson

J.D. Vance seems to think his changing image is a part of being a more interesting person:
“The price of being beloved by the establishment is you don’t say anything interesting... Dominant elite society is boring, it is completely unreflective, and it is increasingly wrong."
This was combined with Vance being upset with the negative critical response to the movie 'Hillbilly Elegy,' based off his book washingtonpost.com/magazine/2022/…
Nunes then rushed to the White House to brief the president.
It later came out that White House officials were the ones who gave Nunes the information. But it did stir up a lot of dust at the time around Trump's wiretapping allegations
