2/6 Russia's invasion of Ukraine is taking innocent lives and devastating a peaceful country. We can stop it. There are two practical steps the international community can take to halt the Russian invasion in its tracks immediately.
3/6 1) Russia funds its wars with its oil and gas pipelines. To stop the Russian invasion, we need to demand an immediate embargo on Russian oil and gas. Only then will Putin run out of rubles for his war.
4/6 2) While the EU has closed its airspace to Russian planes, its fighter jets attack Ukrainian cities freely, sending cruise missiles into kindergartens, hospitals, and residential buildings.
5/6 Ukraine cannot shoot them down because the Russians take shooting positions above Ukraine's nuclear power plants -- the Chornobyl area and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. To avoid the risk of a nuclear catastrophe, Ukraine refrains from fighting back.
6/6 Together, we can stop the aggressor, prevent destruction, and senseless suffering and deaths.
