Last week Saturday, a friend of mine called me at about 8am in the morning and goes "Ayo howfar, I have a wedding  to attend in Gwarimpa today and my plus 1 cancelled last minute. I honestly don't want to go alone, could you please go with me?".
I didn't even waste time before saying yes. Me as the certified glutton that I am, how could i turn down party jollof.
By 2pm, I was already set and fully clad in my VERY expensive agbada and doused in my VERY, UNNECESSARILY expensive Oud perfume so I can do Abuja big boy.
Since I was already familiar with the venue, we both decided to just meet up there. Finding her wasn't difficult at all. As soon as I walked into the hall, I saw her up at the podium taking pictures with the bride and groom.....
Right next to the groom was the prettiest girl I had ever laid eyes on (I'm not even kidding, this girl was FOINE). There and then, I decided I was going to talk to her...
As I was walking towards the podium, I don't why I suddenly remembered a Nollywood movie I had watched earlier where Ramsay Noah adjusted his agbada in this overly dramatic manner to impress a girl. I decided since it worked for him, I should try it out too.
But ofcourse I had to do Aseju. Just to look "COOLER", I grabbed a glass of wine off a table i walked past and proceeded on my mission. By the time I got the podium, I realized I had already caught her attention.
Before I even acknowledged my friend, I walked towards the girl, said hi then tried to pull the Ramsay Noah trick on her. With my glass of wine still in my hand, I flexed my agbada and just like that, in one second, my wine was all over my WHITE agbada😭😭😭.
The glass shattered on the floor, along with my ego.
After all the chaos died down a bit, Foine lady walked up to me, slipped a card in my hand and whispered sexily in my ear, call that number.
People of God, I still won 😎
Or so I thought...🥺
I turned over the card and it was a CLYDE HARRIS LAUNDRY SERVICE card😭😭😭

I don't think life has ever hit me this hard like today. Or more like Nigeria to be specific. I now finally understand that this "Japa" everyone keeps shouting is so much more than cruise.

I won't bore you with unnecessary details, but all I know is I was driving through Utako axis when the most random thought popped in my head, "Ukraine embassy is close".
In that moment, it genuinely felt like a way out for me.
I didn't care about the risks. The only thing that kept ringing through my head was "Japa".
So I parked. I honest to God was going to cross the road and join a queue of probably hundreds of people who were just as desperate as I was.
