The Tinder Swindler conman Shimon Hayut is being sued by the real Leviev family for claiming to be the son of a diamond mogul.
Shimon, who gained fame from the Netflix doc, posed as Simon - the son of the Israel-Russian businessman Lev Leviev.
Lev Leviev Diamonds is one of the world’s largest diamond manufacturers and distributors and Lev’s net worth was $1billion (£746m) as of March 2018.
Amongst their nine children, Lev and his wife Olga do not have a son called Simon.
Shimon Hayut seduced women around the world on Tinder under the guise of a jet-setting diamond mogul, and allegedly conned them out of all their money with the excuse of his enemies being after him.
Now, the real children of Lev Leviev are filing a private complaint against Shimon for defamation and violation of privacy, accusing the swindler of using their family name for 'criminal purposes'.
'The Leviev family is a wealthy family and has many businesses, including a diamond company affiliated with it.'
'Shimon Yehuda Hayut changed his name to Simon Leviev, and for a long time posed, and still poses, as a member of the Leviev family.'
'As a result, he received favours and benefits, all while presenting a false narrative and claiming the Leviev family will cover his costs.'
'He deceived, lied, and hurt innocent women, men, and businesses, and as a result, his actions were associated with the family name.'
The Attorney representing the Leviev family added that this is the first of many complaints being held against Shimon, and that the family intends to donate the money they obtain from Shimon to the other victims.
This money would also include profits Shimon has gained from his newfound fame, including selling merchandise and from selling personalised videos on Cameo.
According to the Netflix series, Hayut allegedly moved from one woman to another, stealing an estimated $10million over the years, and was wanted around the globe for several crimes including forgery and theft.
In an update, conman Shimon Hayut is protesting his innocence and denies being a fraud.
Hayut is denying any wrongdoing, and even seems to believe the lawsuit will be thrown out of court.
A representative for Hayut told Metro: 'Simon believes the family is just trying to insert themselves in the narrative for publicity after the show’s success.'

Contestants on the US game show have become a bit of a laughing bag after a clip of them attempting to solve what is considered, clearly not to all, to be a fairly well-known phrase was branded ‘painful’ by baffled audiences playing on from afar.
#Mood is the compelling new BBC Three series that will show the glamourous yet toxic side of what it means to be a social media influencer🤳🏾– with Nicôle Lecky leading the charge.
We’ve put together a few reasons why you'll love it 💅🏾
Lecky’s authentic portrayal will leave viewers hanging on her every word and busting a move at the same time, as her original soundtrack will also help guide the narrative.
2. The catchy tunes 🎵
It’s rare for a show to provide us with both drama and music but Lecky’s soundtrack will allow viewers to understand the complexities of Sasha’s psyche – and how far she’s willing to go to make it to the top.
Ahead of the release of The Batman, @Rishma_Dosani caught up with casting director Lucy Bevan (@CastingLucy) who – along with Cindy Tolan – was responsible for putting the talented cast together 🤩
‘So my role as casting director is to help the director of the film realise their vision for who should be in the film, and cast all of the actors,’ Lucy told us, emphasising how much secrecy was involved in the project from the very beginning.
‘From reading the blank scripts, I help the director decide who would be best in each role, and get the actors to be in it.'
Your dose of heart-warming news this Monday morning comes with a side of wholesomeness because President Volodymyr Zelensky voiced Ukraine's Paddington & we can't quite believe it 🥺️
The leader – who has remained alongside his people in the capital to fight against the Russian invasion, posting defiant videos from the streets – was a comedian and actor and even appeared on the country’s version of Strictly before he moved into politics.
(Yes, really!)
We can only imagine Ukrainian film fans are all across Zelensky’s role as the sparky bear, but the rest of us are just making that solid, and totally game-changing realisation today 🐻
