I wasted a whole bunch of time yesterday afternoon arguing with a 95-follower account about Joe Biden’s “divisive” & “insulting” rhetoric. And while I’ll save you bot-nannies a click & tell you that I already have him muted, I gotta say that the quote-Tweet genuinely surprised me
Most of his retorts followed the template of obsessively literal and context-free Whataboutism, but the messaging of a quote Tweet suggests: “Yes! THIS! But unironically! Our lives would be so much better if Biden were only NICER to us! Why can’t those hateful liberals see that?”
Of course, this is flatly absurd. No conservative truly hopes for Biden to take off the gloves & try to bring us together, because Biden was never attacking them in the first place. Like all Whataboutism, it’s just an excuse for MAGA to continue being MAGA without interruption.
I suppose his choice of avatar was just icing on the cake

If Biden says “I want to fund the police”, the GOP will demand he condemn the pro-defunders.

If he condemns them collectively, they’ll demand he condemn them individually.

He could condemn 1000 pro-defunders individually & it would not be enough. They only want their rhetoric.

A reminder: “PRONOUNS” is right-wing shorthand for Fussy SJWs Who Have No Real Problems And Have Disappeared Up Their Own Navels Seeking Self-Affirmation.

It is also emphatically anti-transgender, which remains overwhelmingly anathema to conservatives.
The “PRONOUNS” dog whistle implies that today’s gender-obsessed whippersnappers are weak & spoiled and would never be strong or brave enough to defend their country.

But let’s not forget who precisely is standing in the way of transgender soldiers who actually do wish to serve.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine should put your incessant complaining about trivialities in perspective.”

For the record, I’ve seen this argument directed at both the left & right.

For the left, it’s the pronoun thing. For the right, it’s being required to wear a mask at Costco.
