3) Dash camera video verified by The New York Times captures the bombardment on Thursday of a residential area in the center of Chernihiv, the key northern city along the path of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine toward Kyiv, the capital.
4) The footage shows projectiles falling and landing, followed by large explosions. As the smoke from the attack clears, people are seen running in the street. The impact area is near several apartment buildings, pharmacies and a cardiac hospital.
5) Another video shows the significant destruction caused by the attack. The person filming the video said that people had been standing in line at one of the pharmacies when the attack occurred.

7) A source tells me it may have been a large load of 250-500 pound iron bombs from a fighter bomber pylon’s worth, dropping. Cluster bombs open & releases hundreds of projectiles that would have resulted in many smaller explosions. But source says 🇷🇺 has used cluster bombs too.

10) Yes I’m aware a UN blue helmet peacekeeping force requires UN Security Council unanimous approval, which Russia would always veto. Then the main UN body should consider to adopt new bylaws to change the rules of the security council. Clearly it’s ineffectual in the crisis.
11) Here is ANOTHER pathway… there is a legal argument that Russian Federation should not be the successor to old USSR’s UN Security Council seat after USSR’s breakup. There is no official resolution allowing for the Russian remnant of USSR to be the official seat holder… 🧵 👇
