Just read a post by a mom of a 16yo in Moscow who went to the protest today. Now the authorities are trying to scare the mom from every possible angle: calls and house calls! The other moms reassure her it’s just scare tactics. As a mom of an almost 16yo I can’t imagine.
In other news perhaps even more shocking, some ladies of suburban Moscow McMansions are apparently taking lessons on how to shoot guns and want to find out about legal ways to own a gun (unheard of this is not Texas). Mind blown.
Also none of their cards are working in Dubai (incredible number of people are all in Dubai right now)…all hopes on the Sino-Russian UnionPay / Mir card. Amazing how fast this all gets normalized. They talk like it’s the next Amex.
I have no idea if this is really true but this says TikTok is taking a pause in Russia due to the new law that makes people liable for up to 15 years in prison for calling Putin’s war a war. t.me/realua1/6106 Meanwhile TikTok is a big part of the for profit info wars so 🤷♀️
Anyway let’s do an evening 🧵 TikTok thread — zucchini pancakes are a personal favorite and the secret behind soups is they feed your family for days
This vlogger is in Donetsk. He says his friend had a rocket fly into his building today so he isn’t sure if he should relocate to another town or make some tea and take the hookah and crawl into this hole
If this was about NATO expansion, Russia would hit military targets.
Russia is hitting homes, on purpose.
Russia is cutting off water, electricity, gas, heat, communication, on purpose.
Russia is killing Ukrainians on purpose.
Putin wants to destroy the Ukrainian nation.
Therefore don’t blame both sides when a humanitarian corridor doesn’t work. The Russians don’t want it to work. They want to starve the Ukrainian people. They want them to sit cold in basements without food water or medicine. The murderous dictator wants this. It is his plan.
The western world must face the moral physical political economic and even military consequences of sitting back and watching this all happen while not getting *directly* involved. What is neutrality or no planes in Ukrainian skies when there is mass murder in your neighborhood?
I have a personal favour to ask. Those of you who have been reading me for a while will remember Valentina. We met in the Vienna airport on my way to Kyiv in early February. She gave me a walking tour on my last day in Kyiv, just because. Wouldn't accept anything for it.
When the bombings started, I reached out to Valentina. She told me how horrible it was. A few days later I wrote. She replied, "I'm alive". Her son is here in Vienna, worked like crazy to get her on one of the last buses out of Kyiv. He spent all his savings to save his mom.
Valentina is now in Vienna. She arrived with nothing but the clothes on her back and her documents. They did not ask for help, I simply wrote her son and asked how his mom is, not knowing she already made it to Austria. They need to buy food, clothes, to fund a fresh start.
Morning 🧵. Governor of Mykolaiv. Good minoring, Ukraine! he says. They held the city, pushed the Russians back and seized lot of equipment. There are Russian soldiers walking around looking for food. “If you see one, feed him, and then arrest him.” t.me/novostiniko1/9…
Gas supply cut off in parts of 6 regions of Ukraine due to Russian attacks t.me/KyivIndependen…
Status update as of 1hr ago. The humanitarian situation remains very dire; the Russians have in practice not put down their weapons to let people escape. Why? Because Putin is on a genocidal mission. I wish the west would understand this. t.me/ukrinform_news…
