1/ New charges alleging over $1.6M in Medicare billing fraud scheme for Chinese acupuncture business owner, Xiaoyan Hu, 60, through her business Chinese Acupuncture and Herb Center with locations across the metro.
2/ Xiaoyan Hu faces 17 felony counts of theft by false representation for overbilling for services, billing for services not provided and billing home services w/o prior authorization.
3/ We first reported on Hu over 2 years ago through @AlphaNewsMN when she was then charged by the Attorney General w/5 counts of aiding/abetting theft by false representation in a Medicare fraud scheme involving Somali interpreters.
Read that article here: alphanews.org/chinese-clinic…
4/ The charges in that prior case were eventually dismissed, but the new case also involves billing fraud for interpreter services.
It's unclear at this point if the prior interpreter fraud charges have now been incorporated into the new case or if they are different.
