Yesterday, an 11-year-old boy showed up at the Slovakian border from Ukraine with only a plastic bag, passport & phone number written on his hand. He came completely alone, his parents had to stay behind in Ukraine.
Thanks to the phone number written on his hand and a piece of paper in his pocket, police managed to contact relatives who came for him later. A rare, happy ending during extremely dire times. ๐๐ธ๐ฐ
The reason I used the adjectives *amazing* & *heartwarming,* is this little boy made it out alive of a devastating warzone, alone, on foot, and made it safely to Bratislava to stay with relatives. His mother & sick, immobilized grandmother are still in harm's way in Ukraine. ๐๐ผ๐๏ธ
Remarkable follow-up. Hassan was born in Syria, where his father was killed during Russian military strikes.
โWe know this all too well. We fled Putinโs army from Syria when I was 12. We lived in Ukraine for eight years & now we're fleeing from Putin again.โ โ Hassan's brother
This article is in Hungarian, which cites an interview with Hassan's older brother, who is a university student in Bratislava, Slovakia.
To think this family faced Putin's cruelty in two different countries, spanning continents, is truly astounding.
For those who wrote that he was welcomed because he was *white,* not everything is as simple as it seems. Slovakian Police has numerous videos with African & Arab refugees who've been warmly received at the border, as was this Syrian little boy. ๐๐ผ๐๏ธโค๏ธ
We welcome everyone to a lawful and peaceful demonstration at Andrassy รบt 101, opposite the Russian Embassy in Budapest, Sunday, March 6th, from 2pm until 6pm!
We can't just sit and watch what is going on on the other side of the border. Russian troops are pouring into Ukraine, many innocents have lost their lives, many have had to flee their country.
Wow. The fallout from around the globe will be amazing to watch over the coming days & weeks. Citizens of all countries owe these investigative journalists a huge debt of gratitude. Corruption, in all of its forms, is at the root of all evil. ๐ฎ

National Custodian Day recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our public facilities in tip-top shape as well as the people who dilligently work, often at low wages, to make sure we have schools and workplaces that are spotless and sanitary.
National Custodian Day Activities:
- Do something nice for a custodian
- Commend your custodian to his/her supervisor
- Organize an office potluck
Being a custodian is a thankless job. That's why it's important on National Custodian Day to take the time to show your appreciation to the custodians you know. We get to reap the benefits of their hard work on a daily basis, so it's about time we thank them for all that they do.
