Big picture. Right wing libertarians have fomented tectonic shifts in the world's economy that have been planned for decades. The destabilizing and dismantling of western democracy takes time. In the UK's case after leaving the EU, it is naturally speeding up.

Impacts on world trade, laws, human rights and the environment are being accelerated by the rights ability to shamelessly profit and thrive from crisis to crisis, this is the fundamental basis, the founding principles of how disaster capitalism functions.

The right inflicted multiple attacks on society to utilise distribution of disinformation through social media, economic violence as torture while stoking division designed to disorientate and fatigue a nations population. Brexit ref was hatched by US, Austria and Australia,

forcing the 2016 win ensured it became the springboard for many aggressive policy changes, climate denial, deregulation and the abolition of the welfare state that benefit the 1%. RW libertarians learned from the military to 'go in hard and fast' to shock and confuse the public.

Putin disagrees with right wing libertarians views on free trade, but he supports and finances the far right throughout Europe with the aim to divide and conquer it by installing energy dependent hostage situations in countries whose local Govts Russia has bought and compromised.

Once “captured,” Govt contacts are then used to advance Russia’s interests politically and economically. Hungary, Bulgaria, Lativia, Slovakia, Serbia are all to greater or lesser extent under Russia's stranglehold of Faustian deals and establishment corruption.

Capture of influential local policy actors can be activated when Russian interests require it. Primary objective of Russian economic influence seems to be to grow and expand its networks so countries become dependent on Russia for decades despite their Euro-Atlantic identity.

I would say that there is a two pronged attack on western democracy currently playing out, the far right libertarian (Eurosceptic) approach from the likes of Kolm, Norquist, Singham, Kochs, ATLAS, IEA, TPA 450+ RW think tanks. Russia's is a destabilising technique to influence

the facilitation of economic and political control/dependency of whichever Eastern or Central European country it wants via a web of shell companies, intermediaries, or nontransparent transactions with capital flight into the EU.
