On the Via Latina street, at number 55, an ancient columbarium has been found.
It is called Tower of the Angel but it definitely is a tomb of II CE (Antonine dinasty).
The building is partially underneath and is composed bu three levels: only two
Are still visible.
The upper lever is sormounted by annelegant pediment and was probably enriched with the statue of the deceased; elegant columns border the two sides.
The construction has been built with red bricks and is sorrounded by a fence that includes a series of niches
That once contained the funerary vases (columbarium). A staircase was built later.
In the medieval time the structure was turned in a tower to control and defend the passage.
On the wall a fresco of Archangel Michael was painted, giving the building the actual name of Tower of the Angel.
Today the tomb is positioned at the entrance of a modern building.
A catacomb was dismantled during the construction of the Rome-Pisa railway in the second half ofXIX
