many a time people come in to therapy, will get the tail end of an intervention, obtain one or two insights and feel like 'hey I resolved this' and stop therapy. here's why that's problematic
first, if you're starting out therapy, you're not likely to be given the whole intervention. an exercise often has many components and stages to it that builds on revealed insight. for instance, you have an a-ha moment in journalling. that's probably not the *end* of therapy
it's more likely to be the *beginning*. a therapist may ask you to start journalling (using this as an eg since many are familiar with it) as a way to ease you in, get your thoughts out with clarity, cultivate a habit of self reflection, remove filters in thought process
you may not know why you're doing it, it may seem like a simple exercise, but the therapist typically, after a substantial intake, knows where they are leading you, to what discoveries. when you quit halfway you curtail the process.
then, you may have an insight or breakthrough early on. the journalling helped you *see* something for the first time and it clarified so much for you. you continue with it on your own, you may not see another time. you think it doesnt work and stop it.
an intervention isn't a blanket application, it will work in some cases not in another. a therapist sees when to apply and how much. it may work too much too soon. suddenly you're all raw and wounded. they may ask you to stop journalling. you think, why? it's working isn't it?
you may end up derailing the process if you don't work with an intervention well. you may harm yourself. now you don't want to meditate/journal cos it just makes you feel terrible. journalling/meditation bad. so you throw away perfectly good tools. it's the application that errs
and finally, awareness is not resolution. just because you have an insight. 'X caused me trauma ive internalised as self directed anger'. the solution is not 'this is all X's fault. now my therapy is over'.
Now the work of processing this anger / insight begins.
interventions are the instruments of therapy. an 'exercise' is not therapeutic in and of itself. it works in a specific context. every session may not give you interventions. there are other subtler tools, like self-clarification, the therapist is observing, that are equally impt
a therapist may notice an incongruence and record it to bring it up when you are ready to confront something underlying. so dont assume an exercise is therapy. don't seek interventions or exercises as evidence of good therapy. don't abandon therapy at your first insight.

The #weekly #tarot couldn't have been more apt for the stellium in Pisces [Jupiter, Neptune, Sun] and the constant quiet copresence of Mercury. It seems a reminder that beneath the chaos, there is purpose, message on its way. Just go with the flow. Indeed what else can we do
It reminds me of these lines from the poem 'The Word' by Tony Hoagland.
It's as though Mercury, Jupiter in Pisces are summoning the mystical, keeping it luminous, flowing, bright, because the surface is so harsh. You have a place to go. it is inside you. 8 of Wands here is not just an external message, or creative output but a need for self communion

Heart wrenching to watch Zelenskyy struggle with the harsh truth. The West has already let him down. NATO is not coming. the EU is not coming. the US is not coming. They won't declare a no fly zone. No one who propped him up is coming to save him. He's been played.
And he repeats it heroically, futilely, post after post. like some tragic Greek hero. His hamartia is that he still believes. That he inspires belief. And as long as he holds to delusion they will keep telling him what he wants to hear. but they won't sacrifice themselves for him
seeing reality is the most important act of the mind. knowing how things really are, recognising that there are interplays beyond the apparent. Even Israel won't anger Russia, not even for a Jewish president. so wheels dont turn as expected. mechanisms we take for granted fail us

Mars returns to [tropical] Aquarius [11.31 IST] Venus follows in 9 mins [11.40 IST] Mars brings its aggression in Aquarius to the collective. Resistance. Exponential rise in civil rights, protests, power of the people, humanitarianism. Mars has switched sides from state (Capri)✊🏽
Venus now leaves Capri after 4 months, which realigned the truths of *many* relationships. In Aquarius, she brings passion, connection to ideas. Innovation (a necessity caused by war, inflation, plague) peak. Unique art, music, languages of protest emerge. Mercury is copresent
Venus and Mars make their 3rd conjunction exact at 0° [12:25 IST]. Kissing to part. Heightened passion. Terms to agree upon. Then, they square Uranus in Taurus, how we relate to the earth. We become passionate about common ground. We are earthed by an abstract collective cause.

This is a talk that's 7 years old. Some useful insights (without pointless interruptions) from UoC prof John Mearsheimer. Key insights on the geopolitical shift towards an Asian axis. Journalism just seems to be giving us chest thumping PoVs now.
And a good follow up interview in the @NewYorker this week newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/w…
(just a point of view with some historical perspective, in case you're tired of not having any rationale for why this is happening)

ran into an old friend who is a fund manager. when I was buying a house 10 yrs ago he kept telling me not to waste my money. today he's relocated cos he cant justify the high rent and im relocating cos selling a house that's appreciated 400% allows me a lifestyle I want.
im no good with money, honestly, and certainly not one to give financial advice, but I think going with what makes simple common sense to you is important. I invested in a house because I didnt know or understand any other way to save or grow my money.
I think like diet advice, blanket advice never works. it has to work with your personal income, spending habits, constraints, responsibilities. owning a house when you're a woman alone is also security which most $$$ people ive spoken to dont understand.

why is there a mental health impact when symbols such as parliament, of constitutional sanctity, the apex courts, are vandalised? Because it violates our personal sense of security, justice. the court of last appeal is dismantled. our vulnerability rises. we feel unprotected.
in such times we go to the primal sources of our security, which is often parental, home, groups and identities we belong to, community, religion. a banding together can give us the sense of security that comes from the herd or tribe.
These times are harder for those of us who do not have that in itself available to us. many of us who are without these primal cocoons in one form or the other. It is important to locate in these times what our sense of rootedness & structure comes from and take refuge in that
