flipping through Regeneration One to figure out whose fault it is Jhiaxus lost his cool scalloped batwings in favor of normal wings and apparently it's Jeff Anderson's
He shows up earlier in Andrew Wildman art, but his wings are obscured behind him (or left off).
anyway, thereafter everyone else is stuck drawing his new boring wings
(wildman is the reason regeneration one jhiaxus has such tiny nipples though)
BATWINGS EVERYBODY, BATWINGS
Here's the first-ever drawing of Jhiaxus' spaceship mode, in G2 #3.
Manny Galan presumably had to make it up himself, extrapolating from Derek Yaniger's issue #1 robot mode design.
Look! Thrusters under the wings! (we never see them again)
the thrusters seem like a good idea, since otherwise his spaceship mode is just a flying torso with wings, with nowhere for his massive limbs to go
the thrusters don't *entirely* disappear - they shrink and change location, becoming the engines the wings attach through to the torso-fuselage
but essentially he's now a flying torso with wings
Another thing Galan had to make up - what Jhiaxus looks like from behind. Apparently his wings attach to his back via some kind of telescoping cone.
We do get to see Yaniger's back of Jhiaxus' head - there's a jet nosecone, because Jhiaxus is really just a bloated Starscream toy.
cockpit chest, pec boxes, nosecone behind head
see even the sticker detail from Starscream's shoulder jet intakes is the same

Ariel: ...
Ursula: it's three days, kid, you're not gonna get true love in three days
Ariel: I ACCEPT
Ursula: there's gotta be tongue
Ariel: i SAID i accept
i'd just shared a more-recent "on this day" post that was merely about pelicans unswallowing their own spines to cool off, then scrolling down to see this, which is... probably more important
yes, david, the pelicans thing was the shareable anniversary moment today
glad today's strip is about a totally-actually-happened moment where my mom jumpscared us in a parking lot somewhere cradling a bin of my stuff
