Happy International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is #BreakTheBias and we know we’re just two of billions of women who are trying to find their rightful place in the world one day at a time.

Women have broken so many biases in education, across professions, in academia, in political and economic spheres, at home, in the city and in the village. They have also been harassed, brutalized, killed and their memories purposely distorted.

And yet, women continue to march on, forward and upward.

There is no doubt that our strength over millennia has brought us to this moment of glory and dissatisfaction. There is still a lot wrong with the world today when it comes to where women are, how they feel...

..what burdens they shoulder - the biases at home, in the work place, at the clinic and everywhere continue to wedge themselves in.

Despite this, we stand tall and we aim higher.

This year, we’d like to remind every woman out there to take a deep breath, to savor the moment, to forgive herself for the trauma, guilt, shame, or sadness that she carries.

Let’s center our joy, our happiness, the little moments, the daily wins, the ticked to-do-list, the self-care days, the love we get from our families, our friends, lovers, pets and pure divine mercy to live life fully every breathing moment.

Let’s heal ourselves and mold our futures into a unending series of breaking biases as they emerge.

Here’s to us, our moms, sisters, daughters and grandmothers.
