The reason people are so angry and dismissive about this truthful reporting, which prompted immediate action from the Army, is because they’re zealously committed to the current war effort and therefore in full-time propaganda mode. This very much includes journalists
The headline is drawn from what I was explicitly told by sources with direct knowledge. It's not *MY* understanding, it's theirs. If the policy is so inconsequential and means nothing, why was it immediately rescinded after I called to inquire?

People really do just refuse to read the article, or obsessed with "tone" that they can't bring themselves to talk about anything else. Especially all these in-house reporters for military trade publications who are simultaneously employed by the DOD
