Bonet’s lawyer says Bonet fell for election disinformation because it was put forward by “people that are portrayed as highly intelligent, high-ranking officials.”
Bonet decided to do an interview last month in which he made false claims about Jan. 6, which is now causing some issues for him at sentencing. news10.com/top-stories/gl…
Bonet’s lawyer says she wishes the news station reached out to her, and says she would’ve shut it down.
James Bonet: “I regret my actions… That’s not my character… I didn’t represent myself well… I didn’t set a good example for my nieces or my nephews…”
“I don’t think the cops are pieces of shit or anything like that,” Bonet tells the judge. “I’ve been working hard every day, it’s not easy, but I am working hard to change.”
Bonet says he shouldn’t have done the interview in the first place, and should’ve thought about what he said.
Judge Emmet Sullivan isn’t thrilled with James Bonet’s “very troubling” interview last month.
Incarceration it is. Probation only would send the wrong message, judge says.
90 days incarceration, double what DOJ sought.
“At 30 years of age, it’s time for you to wake up, smell the roses,” Judge Sullivan tells James Bonet.
“You’re not a horrible person, you just made horrible errors in judgement,” Sullivan says. “I wish you well. You may not believe that, but I do.”
Had there been assaultive conduct here, the sentence would’ve been much harsher, says the judge. “Believe me.”
