Yesterday I browsed #ShepCon2022 . Here's the depressing bit - there are so, so many people who think that what shepcon is serving up is the gospel.
But complementarianism isn't the gospel
Strong fatherhood isn't the gospel.
Masculine energy isn't the gospel.
Feminine energy isn't the gospel
Sticking it to the libs isn't the gospel
Being a powerful culture warrior isn't the gospel
Being anti-woke isn't the gospel
Being woke isn't the gospel
Being "hard on sin" isn't the gospel.
Homeschooling isn't the gospel
Controlling women isn't the gospel
Sticking it to feminism isn't the gospel.
Remember that gospel means "Good news."
And it is good news for everyone.
"Everything you are doing is wrong" isn't good news.
Something might be true, and NOT be good news.
The good news is this:
"Jesus came to save sinners, of whom I am chief."
The good news is that someone who is not you has satisfied for all your sins and redeemed you from all the power of the devil and so preserves you that without the will of your Father not a hair can fall from your head.
Yes, there are changes that follow believing in that message.
The changes in the heart are love instead of hate; respect for others instead of contempt for others; and the drive, above all else, to decrease while Jesus increases.
But those changes in the heart aren't the gospel.
They are the results of the gospel.
The fruits of the gospel.
According to James, care for the orphan and widow are the sine qua non of true religion.
But even that isn't the gospel. It is the fruit of the gospel.

And now, here is a sobering thought:
Did you see the thousands of men who are being fed the abusive theology of works-oriented salvation who are going to be taking it all over the world?

My heart goes out to the vulnerable...
The accounts that keep flowing from GCC and its affiliates of horrible abuse will continue
around the whole world.

But here is something tremendous to think about. Although these counterfeit gospel preachers do everything in their power to destroy true religion, remember the words of Jesus:

The gates of hell will not prevail.
Take heart, everyone.

Something we need to be clear on: When one speaks of different "ontology" for men and women, they either do not know what ontology means, or they have changed the meaning, or they are in serious error in their anthropology.

This language is a departure for orthodoxy.
It has consequences. If men and women are ontologically different, then for whom did Christ die? Did he die as a man?
Or did he die as a human?
Did he redeem man?
Or did he redeem humans?

If men and women are ontologically different, men are saved by Christ, women by submission
If you think that CBMW is about order in the home, think again.
It is a serious departure from orthodoxy under the guise of fighting worldliness.
At bottom, it is ugly and contrary to the gospel.

At the heart of Xian nationalism is a hopeless contradiction. This is what we saw yesterday. Guns, violence and force under the banner "Jesus Saves
So here is the contradiction- does Jesus save? Or are we saved by law? It is the same old problem that Paul dealt with in Galatians
How is the kingdom of God built and what is its nature?
Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight."
Christian nationalism hopes to bring about the kingdom by guns and violence and ruthless politicians. The only way any earthly ruler can enforce laws is by force. Jesus knew that, and he set his kingdom diametrically opposed to every kingdom of the earth.
