Found the cover art for Ben Gibbard's new album.

I ran across this in the papers of an Oregon far right evangelical, Walter Huss. He had it because he was doing oppo research on the group to try to get this religious group's tax exempt status revoked for being too political.

Huss was a Foursquare preacher who, from the 1960s into the 90s, used conservative churches across the state to help promote right wing political campaigns. Whenever he experienced pushback or criticism for his theocratic politics, he of course screamed "tyranny!"

Here's the letter where he complained to the IRS about EMO supposedly doing what he himself had been doing (and mostly getting away with) for decades.

In the late 80s Huss was obsessed with what he perceived to be the threat of liberal religious organizations like EMO who he thought were too pro-gay and too pro-civil rights. In 1989 Huss had led the movement to remove MLK's name from a Portland street.

Huss loved to put procedural roadblocks in front of liberal organizations (which he saw as Communist front orgs). In 1965, for example, he joined with the National States Rights Party (a white nationalist terrorist organization) to oppose the NAACP's request to raise funds.
