When the peaceful protesters began to be shot at and fired at with tear gas, Olzhas ran away. On his way home he was stopped by 4 masked police officers with machine guns - supposedly Rapid Response Forces. They began to beat and kick Olzhas.

There was a curfew from 07.00 am till 10.00 pm, so we were there all day - nobody said anything to us, there were no lists, and nobody knew anything! I stayed there from the morning till the evening when a person from a law enforcement agency appeared and showed us a list.

There was my son in it. The following day when I came there again, I learned that my son was taken somewhere at Stakhanov Str. There he was held for 3-4 hours. He has been detained in a pre-trial detention facility since 7 January, 2022.

He went on the protest just to express his civil views on behalf of all the young people! I ask the authorities to release my son and all the detained sons! They are all innocent. They are not terrorists.
