14-Sep-1989, a usual morning for Pandit Tika Lal Taploo, fondly known as Lalaji, a staunch nationalist, social worker, swayamsevak & BJP (J&K) vice president.
This is about the fateful day when it all triggered the 7th exodus of #KashmiriPandits.
A 59 yrs old senior lawyer by profession, Lalaji was heading to work at High Court. As soon as he stepped out of his residence at Bhan Mohalla Srinagar, he saw a crying little girl of a Musl!m neighbor. Lalaji took the child in arm, walked through next door to her mother
2/
& inquired friendly. The mother said the child is crying for some stationery stuff. Lalaji affectionately handed over a bill of Rs.5 to the child & headed back to his work.
He could barely walk a few meters when he was confronted by three men with wrapped faces.
3/
One of them approached Lalaji, took out his weapon, and pulled the trigger. 8 rounds fire non-stop pierced Lalaji's body, leaving him dead on spot almost outside his home. The spinechilling day light murder of popular & fierce Hindu leader shook entire region. 4/
Objective- hit the backbone of resistance, rest will follow the fate.
Thousands of ppl across identities attended the tearful funeral of beloved leader, including then BJP pres LK Advani & others.
Some M radicals stone the processesion, some kept the shops shut in respect. 5/
Lion-heart Lalaji was known for his ethics, courage & integrity, has been jailed many times before, including a tortuous term during the Emergency.
Lalaji knew the threat to his life so he left his family in Delhi & came back to Kashmir on 8th Sept.
6/
On 12th Sept he did not just escape an attack at his residence but challenged back attackers by coming openly out of the home.
He stood rock-solid in front of J!had!sts, fought bravely and that's what made him to top in the hit-list & first among lacs of KPs.
7/
As per a news report that time, notorious terror!st Javed Ahmed Mir a.k.a Javed Nalka was suspected to be behind Taploo's murder. Nalka, who shot 4 IAF officers and during Yasin Malik's jail in the early 90th, became de facto leader of the JKLF. 8/
Few weeks later on 4Nov Justice (rtd) Ganjoo was shot dead & in a month on 8Dec, Rubaiya Sayeed d/o then HM Mufti Md Sayeed abducted by JKLF in exchange for imprisoned one. With incompetent leadership in J&K, the events kept unfolding till genoc!de & exodus of KPs in jan'90. 9/
Lalaji was a strong nationalist and probably the last upright Hindu leader in the valley. He knew what was coming but didn't leave his ppl alone & never surrendered to J!hadis. Wish, there were more Tika Lal Taploo in that time of govt.
A heartfelt tribute to martyr Lalaji🙏 10/
In this scene of #TheKashmirFiles Anupam Kher is carrying picture of Tika Lal Taploo (encircled).
11/
The similar MO followed by KhaIistani terror¡st by assassinating Lala Jagat Narain, strong Hindu leader in Punjab that time.
2 coincidence,
That was also September, and popular leader fondly called Lalaji.
₹ 35,30,346 Cr (35 lakh crore): The commutative amount has been transferred directly to the valid beneficiary account (DBT).
Had it been the Congress era, 85% i.e. ₹30 lakh crore would have vanished to corrupt mediators.
1/
₹30L Cr is an estimated loss based on former PM Rajiv Gandhi's infamous quote. In other words, this is ~60% of India's today's budget. Imagine the level of corruption, that even the PM confessed, unofficial commission, fake ID beneficiaries, duplicities & other means.
2/
Though DBT was initiated in 2013 (parting MMS govt), it was systematically expanded by the Modi govt.
For the success of DBT, first & foremost need is a bank a/c. Govt launched the massive PM Jan Dhan Yojana, under which 52cr a/c were opened (56% women & 67% in rural/suburb) 3/
I can float a party and can promise a plot on moon for everyone. Interestingly, I don't have to explain my technical or economical plan, neither I would have any fear of consequences if I (obviously) won't be able to do it.
1/
In the high octane election in India, ppl hardly care about manifestos & so the parties. Nonetheless it is best reflection of intent & vision of the party.
Problem is almost no constitutional compulsion or scrutiny of promises being even technically feasible.
2/
First of all the word "guarantee" is highly misleading. I'd personally go with Kapil Sibal who said using this word itself is unconstitutional. No one can guarantee anything but only can try. BJP, Congress or AAP, all parties failed here.
3/
The other day I went to a party wearing my favourite Wildstone deo. My host (name withheld) introduced me to someone. The rest is history.
1/
This morning I was feeling a little dull. Then I brushed my teeth with Colgate Max and blew my breath at a random girl. In general, you would have got a slap in such a case, but here that girl started dancing with me.
2/
And here if you are born with an average look and dark skin, you just need to apply fair and lovely and handsome, which will change your look & skin colour good enough to be acceptable in society.
@DrSJaishankar referred Nehru's foreign policy (India second, China first). Congress spox @LavanyaBallal used derogatory remarks and denying the charges.
Here are two historical evidences that India was indeed offered permanent seat for UNSC but Nehru denied.
1/
The 1950 American Offer:
US: we offer unseating of China as a Permanent Member in the Security Council and of India being put in her place.
JLN: We shall go on pressing for China's admission in the UNSC. India is certainly entitled, but not at cost of China.
2/
The 1955 Soviet Offer:
USSR: we propose India's inclusion as the 6th member of the UNSC.
JLN: We feel that this should not be done till the question of China's admission is first solved. I feel that we should first concentrate on getting China admitted.
Supreme court & petitioner and that journalist (which I still believe is just a front face) has royally screwed up the Electoral Bond scheme and its' purpose.
Let me explain, how -
1/
Quid-Pro-Quo: Think for a moment, if center govt wanted to use it for kickbacks, bribes and commissions which payment mode would have been better? Cash or EB!
2/
Agencies as weapons: If the central ruling party has received 6K Cr for Q-P-Q, opposition parties have also received 16K Cr. Why would corporate bet on them if they know oppsn doesn't control CBI/ED?
